Video as source?

This will be interesting...

anyway... cut to the chase. I would like to use Animee Music Videos as music and background graphics for a DDR like challenge for a contest I help run.

I am the AMV video tech person for about 8 AMV contests... so I have a rther large collection of AMVs... and I am also the tech person for the DDRAMV projects...

I finally started playing ddr not long ago (yea... after 3 years of the DDRAMV prject you woudl think that I would have tried it before now)... and the background videos in MAX2 made me think that this would be either an awesome project or contest for one ore more of the contests i work with...

so my simple question... which of the symulators (step mania or dance with intensity seam to be the main contendors) wouldd be best if i want to use a music video for dancing to. I can easily seperate the video and audio to seperate files... and convert them to what ever codec and resoltuion needed.

I am leaning twords step mania... since it has the video abilities documented... and seams easy. Also... step mania comes with a linux flavor... with would allow me to make a gentoo linux game dvd or cd... which is basically a bootable cd/dvd with the core linux kernal that simply loads the game... i could then give out copies of the dvds at cons

anyway... any thoughts or advice on this? ErMaC (one of my freinds) has already said that if i set this up... He'll dance to all three DDRAMV projects (over an hour each)... so i wanna see if he has the stamina...

i think it would be cool to setup at anime convnetions... mixing anime and ddr... plus if i make this into a contest... half of the judding would be based on the amv... the other half the dance steps that the person came up with...

It considers a few factors

1. Personal Prefrence
2. those dvd's or cd's, are you just distributing or charging
3 it comes down to the coding of the dwi

1. well... i was wondering which one has better pefroamcne with video

2. giving away... putting the .iso files oneline on a bit torrent... and encoraging people to copy and distro...

3. dwi... so both step mania and dance with inssity use dwi files?

I mainly wanted to know which would be better for using amvs as source files... dwi or sm
