I have modified an XBox controller extension to plug into a usb port on my pc but cant get the darn dance pad to work. I should note too that I run Linux.
Has anyone had any success with this? I can SEE the pad in /proc but I cant find a driver that will work with it... the standard xbox controller driver doesnt get me anywhere (though it does allow me to use the xbox controller on my computer).

| why not just go online and just buy psx to usb, rather than ruin a controller to hook an xbox controller up? |

I didnt "ruin" a controller... I simply remapped an extension cable. And with said modified extension cable I can now hook up my xbox controllers to my pc AND hook up my usb devices to my xbox.
So the short answer to your question is... why ask why? |
