I just hate it when some idiot, who probably dosen't even play the game, has to get up and start shadowing me when I'm trying to learn a new song. I mean come on. What the heck do people have to be all up in my face for, telling me I'm no good, when they're not even hitting any recognizable patterns, just flailing like an idiot, just throwing my timing off, getting in my way and covering the screen. And then their friends cheer them on like he's all cool and some junk. Like I challenged him and he's just schooling me. Whatever.
First off, I'm only a novice at best, I don't need that aggravation. Second, I don't play to compete, I play to have fun, until I can get better. Then and only then will I even consider a tournament or anything. It's just people like this that just make me want to leave the arcade in disgust.
I just felt like I had to get that out. Bleh. _________________

My brother does that! It annoys me beyond all reason!
Sometimes people will sit on the bar while I'm playing. I extremly hate this.
I don't mind people shadowing me but if they're aimlessly stomping around on the pad I get mad because it throws me off. If someone jumps on to the other pad in the middle of the song they screw me up and that annoys me. _________________

All they know is..Hey he's moving around really fast...I can't do that cuz i'm not that cordinated. _________________

If someone shadows me(which rarely happens), then I ask them to get off the pad at the end of the song.
If they decide they want to keep doing it then I get them thrown out of the arcade. |

Well one of my arcades I frequent; this happens all the time. So, being the good person that I am.
I ask politly the first and second time. The third time I get one of the my friends who works there or I shove their asses off the pads. There has been many times I almost fought like 3 or 4 people at a time. It just comes with the territory. But I hate the stupid ghetto girls that travel in packs mind you that mess with me.
Most of the time thier boyfriends don't do anything because they know they are wrong. But they are not so easy to deal with. You've just have to stand up for yourself and show these people you mean business. Once you do then they won't mess with you anymore. That's all. _________________

Well shadowing...heh let's just say that I used to do that...when I was fairly new to the game and I saw someone playing on either beginner or light. I don't do it anymore, but there are times where I watch the arrows from behind and move my legs in those directions...just got get a bit warmed up while I'm waiting for my turn. As for getting shadowed...It's not that annoying unless you're doing standard, and you some guy who's got all the steps to heavy memorized starts shadowing..because you here more TAP TAP TAP BAM BAM BAM than anything, which usually throws me WAY OFFBEAT. If there person is around my level though...and he doesn't seem to bad, I'll usually ask him/her if they wanna go one on one |

I think it means the same thing as a sight-reader. You don't do songs you know, you just try different songs everytime that you've never done before. I have never been shadowed. I don't shadow either. I don't mind people resting on my bar. I'd rather take a buzz saw to it anyway.
Also asianDDRChick, it's really humiliating to be shadowed by some guy that memorized the heavy patterns. It's never happened to me, but i can imagine what people would think of the person with the arrows doing standard and the person without doing heavy. _________________

You, my friend, get a cookie. No bar rules!
I don't mind shadowing, so long as the person knows what he is doing. I also ask before shadowing anyone, and they usually let me. This is why I've been able to learn so many songs so quickly. If someone doesn't want shadowed though, I politely don't get on the pad.
Oh, and Tempest, your avatar looks like the kind of thing you would do in this situation. |
