Right now I'm doing 7-8 footers, which is mostly why I need something other than a soft pad (even though I built a platform and strapped it down, and sandwiched the arrows with cardboard slats).
TheKornKid - I did read your post, in fact that's what convinced me to go ahead and buy the metal pad. I wanted to see if anyone else had modded their metal pad and how successful it was. Keep us updated please.
By the way, what are the arcade platforms made of? The Extreme machine near me gets heavily used, and I haven't seen any cracks on it yet. How long before they start to appear? |

Well, in case anyone's still reading this, my pad came today. Super fast shipping, only took 3 days. But the pad I received is actually not the one that was pictured. It's a Cypher Games pad, which is thinner and whiteish colored. The plastic over the arrows is more flexible than I anticipated, but I can already see that modding will not be too far off. It's actually not as responsive as the soft pad I customized, but it feels just like an arcade pad.
Thanks to Rychan for the helpful info, we got the exact same pad. |

I'll keep everyone updated on how my mod is holding up, right now like i said it's fine, but I just modded it a few weeks ago so i still don't know of any longterm problems, but if any come up, i will keep everyone updated and post how to fix them. |

i have a redoctane arcade size pad or something that's dying on me, and i decided i want a metal pad.
it seems from everything i'm reading that a CF is the best idea but i'd have to go without DDR for awhile till i got the money for it.
so i was wondering if i should get a red octane or a bns or is there another pad you'd reccommend. i was thinking about finding a make your own but i'm terrible with things like that
oh i'm mainly looking for a pad that will last me a while and if it helps, i'm mostly playing 7/8 foot maniac songs right now and despite being 16 i only weight 120 lbs.
any suggestions? |

Approximately how long does an imediately modded BNS/MMB pad last? Immediately means that the modding is done right when purchase, prior to ANY play. The BNS/MMB mod is on the first page, isn't it? |

Can anyone tell me how long the Red Octane Metal Pad lasts? Also, how does it perform? I know Cobalt Flux's are like the shit and all, but this is all I can afford, so I need the details on it. _________________

What metal pad is better in terms of performance and "longlasting-ness"? MyMyBox or Red Octane? _________________

I saw this hard metal pad with a trick bar for 200 bucks. Is this a good deal?

Does it work good? Any experiences with it? _________________

Argh! For the 157,245th time, these pads suck! There are lots of thread in which people ask the same question and are told that they suck. Even in the metal pad discussion, if you read some of it, you would have found out it sucks.
The pad uses acrylic, which sucks. Acylic = cracked arrows. Second, it uses aluminom foil and copper contacts. These suck! They are really bad and will lead to unresponsiveness. |

I just modded my NEO pad , the one with LED lights without the new metal frame by taking off all of the little rubber nubs and replacing the screws that were in them without nubs. I left out the 4 screws, one on each corner, and drilled a 36/36" piece of plywood that was 1/2" thick and drilled holes in it to mount the pad to the board...this resulted in a more sturdy pad that was more responsive...the pad bends a bit with the rubber nubs.

Well considering they are polycarbonate...not nated thats one thing. Another, is supposedly it works better less cracking but that depends on many factors...buy at your own risk. |

I was looking to build my own DDR metal pad like TheKornKid's (and I must say that pad looks AWSOME ).
I was just wondering if anyone could give me a FULL list of supplies with the TOTAL expense (tax doesn't matter but I'm assuming it'll be thrown in already) and really good instructions of how to build it (with pictures of course). I'm a hands on learner so if I don't see pics I'm pretty much screwed . I'm sure there are many sites like this but are there any that fit me needs?
Thanks _________________
