Ok, you all think that this guy is tough.. Im obsessed with DDR and playing in the "Lazer Blaze"(laser tag place's) arcade. Now, as you see on my info, im 13..But im short, and im crazy good at DDR.. Most the people at this Arcade that come to play DDR are 17-21 and are pretty much ALL goth..Now, this is what i hear while i play in the backrounds"WOW, this kid is crazy!" Then some littler kids come up and say,"wow, mom i want to try too" other DDR players gave me the name "DDR kid" and if they havn't seen me before they say"WOW, he like 6." After i play, i have to walk threw a croud of people saying that im 6 years old and that im crazy good and that its my bed time" If I get on the pad with another person he will walk off the pad because he tells his friends that he doesn't want to get embassed by a 6 year old.. If you want to know how good i am...OK "AAed max 300 heavy"

by the way, im getting a metal pad for Christmas, do you guys have any suggestions on good ones? I have my eyes on the Red Octane one..If you have that pad or know a lot about could you give da review?

I hope you guys read my post. If you read it, you'd notice the DDR basher had the mentality of a pre-adolescent child. This guy is not putting up a worthy argument, not even up there around the likes of somethingawful.com, for example.

imma just expand on Reenee's analysis (which is very good i thought)

Quote:
Dance Dance Revolution (or it's shortened name, "DDR" which all the mega-cool, funky, hip kids are call it to allow them extra time to talk about their high scores and championship badges)...

Hmmm, okay. So the Nation Basketball Association is shorten down to NBA, which the mega-cool, funky, hip kids call it? Or how bout the initials, NFL?

Quote:
I first learned of its existence when my brother talked about it. (and y'know, my bro has his share of frick-ups...I forgave him for the whole Pokémon thing, and even the Giga-pet fiasco). This, however, is unforgivable.

So this quote means that he's one of those people who perceives everything is "gay." Yes. Something that has sexual preference is gay. blink.gif So he's one of those "Losers" that opinionate activities before he tries them. For example, he's with a group of friends and he sees a person dancing. He thinks he is so great that he just mocks the dancer. He mocks in a way where it makes him look stupid, but it seems funny to his friends. This happened to my friend once. I wanted to break that guy's jaw. Then his precious cue stick. And then break his ribs and pop his knee cap. Then I'll probably take my elbow and swipe it across his face til a few teeth come out. And then dislocate his shoulders and ankles. drool.gif

Quote:
Years ago, I went into the arcade and games were fun. Pac Man, then Street Fighter, then Daytona USA.

Yea, and today when I went to the arcade, I saw better and more entertaining versions of Street Fighter and racing games. This guy definately lives in the past and tries to be cool about it. The only thing he should miss is probably times he played with his friends, beat a difficult level, or obtaining the highest score.

Quote:
Dance Dance Revolution is way worse than that. And its number of accumulated zombies shows no sign of decelerating.

I bet we all can out-run this guy, let alone kick his buttocks.[/quote]

"Cult following" is the polite way to say "not many fans". How many of you saw Titan A.E., for example?

BTW, when I bought tokens one day, I said I was here to play on my "hamster wheel" for some exercise. She laughed. DDR is a silly game.

Hmmm lets see reasons why me and my brother and "Team Misaki" (Team me and my bro started that plays DDR and Initial D) play ddr.

1: Good workout
2: Fun
3: Entertainment
4: Meeting new people
5: Making videos (Of us dancing and watching all the humorous fsing mistakes)
6: To teach those wannabes a big lesson E4.gif

Ah that e-mail...i think what i'm going to do with the team is send him an angry hate mail, all of us are gonna write in big bold letters

BAKA!!!!!!

Let's point out errors, shall we? This is from this person's pages.

Quote:

I never exactly knew what to make of the term "cult following." I always heard it and instantly my thoughts were: "Can't people enjoy what they want without being mocked and berated?"

Well, now I know the answer: No.

Because cult followings aren't normal followings. They're not followings that consist of simply liking something and spending money now and then to invest in the interest. They're much deeper.

They're followings that require you to constantly eat, sleep, and think about that object of interest. That require you to form a committee of friends that all share this interest, and have hour-long conversations related to this interest. That require you to...well...be a loser .

And the hilarious thing is that cult followings rarely appear for anything worth any real fandom. It's always something silly, annoying, and fundamentally pointless: like Star Wars or Clay Aiken. I've often imagined if I was given a choice between an Aiken concert and a showing of Star Wars , I'd scream, beg, and plead for a some sort of third option involving a knife, my heart, and a topless murderess (you know, cause I gotta go out happy ...)

Still considering my hatred for over hyped movies, the next person I see walking to a Star Wars convention in the dead of summer with a giant, hairy Chewbacca costume will look like the epitome of sophistication when put next to someone who allows them self to be a slave of the wretched Dance Dance Revolution.

So, in essence, this guy simply can't say, "I keep hearing 'cult following'. DDR does not have a cult following. It has a fanbase." Idiot.

He calls people losers for having a heightened interest in something he doesn't like , but doesn't care anyway so he wants the world to follow what he deems correct and demoralize them for it. Hey Laney B.: "CULT FOLLOWING!" E10.gif

Dance Dance Revolution (or it's shortened name, "DDR" which all the mega-cool, funky, hip kids are call it to allow them extra time to talk about their high scores and championship badges) is another one of those arcade games in which you are made into a fool for a high score that only lasts until the store-owner pulls the plug on the machine at 9PM.

Useless quip at the beginning. Made into a fool? You've haven't seen freestylers, eh? Oh, and arcades save high scores since the time of, oh, Galaga.

Quote:

Now dancing's been around forever, but I guess someone figured it's always better if you pay $1.00 by the minute, to have a machine play bad music tell you exactly what steps to make. (Bonus points if you play it for hours on end and draw a crowd to watch you make an buttocks of yourself and nearly starve to death, nourishing your unhealthy arcade addiction.)

Can you not acknowledge personal taste? Rap sucks to me, but I know others like it anyway.

Quote:

Oh, but it doesn't stop there! There's now a "DDR MAX "available on home console ! Now, we can all be mindless drones at home! And a "DDR Remix ". And an "Extreme DDR" . And probably next year, an "Extreme DDR to the MAX". How 'bout a "Totally Extreme Hardcore MAXed out DDR Remix" ? Maybe we can add a bonus stage that plays a record by Eminem, re-package it and sell it under the name "Totally Slim Shady Extreme Hardcore MAXed out DDR Remix" ! Oh! I get it! We could also be pretty damn obvious about our pathetic marketing schemes and call it "Totally Slim Shady Extreme Hardcore MAXed out DDR Betta Get Your Parents Up Before 7AM So They Can Get It For You Before We Replace It With Something Else Tomorrow Morning Remix" !

THIS IS AN ARGUEMENT!? PATHETIC! I've had more fun making fun of the long names the Street Fighter series has had.

Quote:

And did I mention the music? It's really bad. Those Clay Aiken tickets might not be a bad idea, after all.

Personal taste thing again, but if this man just put up a pointless paragraph AND wouldn't mind going to see Clay Aiken...this guy is a bit contradictory, isn't he?

Quote:

Years ago, I went into the arcade and games were fun. Pac Man, then Street Fighter, then Daytona USA.

Something happened. I went in one day and saw a game in which people were horseracing, and to move the horse on the screen, actually had to mount a mechanic horse and shake it back and forth. that's when I realize that we, as humans, no longer play games; The games play us.

Wait, wait, wait. Daytona used a steering wheel, which gives us the impression of being in a racecar. Now, we have the mechanic horse, which gives us the impression of horseback riding. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?

Quote:

At that moment, I realized that eventually there would probably appear a game in which humans are put into a giant gerbil wheel and instructed to run repeatedly for the shallow pursuit of a high score.

If you want the government to think we're all zombies to GTA: VC and get the impression that video games are plotless button-mashers, get out. Now.

This man couldn't even put up a worthwhile argument. Something Awful can do him in tons better.

This post should be carved into gold.

there are other posts on this you can just look at them.

But for real the guy did have some ok points like the one about its all about bragging. I mean really whens the last time you went to play and had fun playing REAL songs, not caring about their difficulty and not trying to impress with your 1337 bar raping skilzors.

He uses the fact that the game "names" its sequals as a negative.

He uses the fact that the game has "bad music", which is surprising because the game covers just about every type of music ever made.

He uses the fact that the game has "high scores" and that they are only a devious little "hook" to get you to play more. Let's just hope he never ever gets a career in advertising, because he probably wouldn't get the concept.

He uses the fact that "people" exist whom "like" the game. Shame on these people, their crimes of "liking" something that he doesn't are unforgiveable evidently.

He uses the fact that we abreviate the name of Dance Dance Revolution to DDR as something which only serves as a convenience, shame on us, the selfish people we are, dare we abbreviate anything, such as "NASA" or "DNA".

He uses the fact that the machine "tells you exactly what steps to make". Yes, now I realize it, all these games have been controlling us by telling us what to do, I'm sure games would be much more succesful if we simply pressed a bunch of buttons of our own free will to see exactly what makes us happy and content using magical powers.

He uses the fact that someday people will subject themselves to a giant wheel and run for no reason at all. I wish I had the ability to predict things that were invented years ago, but due to this I was never able to predict the creation treadmill.

I admit, "Dance Dance Revolution and all pertaining versions" is no glamorous game, and by no means meant to serve as an actual means of dancing when played correctly, but bickering endlessly about it simply for the fact that you want "Dance Dance Revolution and all pertaining versions" players to cry out foul play against you, well that just seems like a waste of bandwith. Go kick puppies, I'm sure the animal rights activists would give you more hell for that.

That is seriously the dumbest excerpt I have ever read. It is a total rip off of Maddox, which is the best web page in the universe. But this one is just sad. E2.gif A sad world we live in? Being Zombies? What is this? I hope he has enough wit to realize that DDR players play other games......Well I have to get back to playing Silent Hill 3 so f u c k this person and bye all!

It's not the fact that this guy was ragging on DDR. I'll accept the fact that he hates the game. Hell, I hate a lot of games. EVERYBODY hates a lot of games. It's just that it's the same old crappy pissing and moaning. "Stupid faggots look like queefs while dancing to bad music". It's been said. MANY times. It's essentially the equivalent of "WE NIGGAZ WALK LIKE THIS, WHILE WHITEYS WALK LIKE THIS" jokes. His material, including all of his other articles, are just very weak and shallow. To quote my friend Kp, "WHERE'S THE PUNCHLINE?!"

I read the whole thing, and in the end, he says 'It's a sad world we live in, folks'. It's then that I noticed the following: he had absolutely no argument at all. I mean, I've heard anti-DDR rants before, but that was the most horribly misinformed one I've ever read. He says the music is horrible, but he never says why. For Christ's sakes, are we supposed to just take his word for it?
