Stepmania Lag???

Certain songs play just fine and then others just lag horribly and make it impossible to pass them at all anyone have any clue what might be causing the problem???

9800 Pro
512MB Ram
120GB & 36GB Hdds

I run less than half those specs and I get one lag per song if that. With that hardware there's no reason you should be lagging, but since you are, go into options and lower the quality of the graphics and the announcer (change it to the "fast" setting). Also don't run any other programs while you're running SM. If you already aren't, then run adaware. Hope this helps.

things that are running in the background

1. Zone alarm
2. Graphics Control pannel

Ran adaware, nothing, so this is somewhat confusing. Mabey DWI might fix this

Do you have background videos for some of those songs? Try disabling those if you do.

Also, are you sure that the songs are properly synched to the beat?

Is your BIOS set to run in UltraDMA mode?

If not, I know this causes DVD playback to suffer sometimes.

although you do have a very up to date graphics card, i think your problem might be that you have both antialias and anistrophic filtering on...turn both of those off and im pretty that should fix your problem...

Im running stepmania with background vidoes at max resolution on a 32mb nvidia graphics card, 2.4 ghz processor and 512 ram...and i dont any lag whatsoever.
