o_O wow this is getting brutal.

Just to say, I am 13, but i'm not gonna sit here and tell you how good I am, DDR is for fun and I could care less what you think of me based on my skill level.

Hmm well for how I see it here are a few things i want to add to this convo. In the first post, the person who started this whole conversation never said anything about different ages. Or young people 13 or younger. All it said was "new people playing ddr' and we jumped to conclusions that he was talking about age.

Also, no effence, but its kinda hard to listen someone talk about how they hate it when people brag and just say their skill level rather than feet when your name is "DDRmaniacplayer"

Reguardless of age or skill level, we should all have respect for eachother, young people for old people, old people for young people, advanced for begginners, and begginers for advanced.

This is just my opinion, please dont flame me for giving it. E1.gif

Well, then again, the thread title clearly states the age thing

That added nothing to the conversation. All it did was make a huge sweeping statement by saying you're better than all High Schoolers, nothing in this conversation warranted a statement like that, even if you could back it up.

What the hell are you talking about dude!? If you read back, you will see where that had everything to do with a previous posters comments. You need to back off a bit and learn to calm down. I said that jokingly and it wasn't ment to offend people. Only people who take things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY would take that offensively, so just get over it and move on. BTW I NEVER said I was better than so and so, yada, yada, yada, all I was saying was to get over the age crap. The best players out here are 18 and up, I don't see highschoolers EVER who can rock the scene, yes, I know there are some, thank you. But people diss on the older group, I was just pointing something out: LEARN SOME RESPECT.

Next time you feel like pointing out the fact that "someone brought nothing to the disscussion" you should possibly look at yourself....you brought not a damn thing to this conversation...congratulations.

Nope, I still don't see how that was pertenent to any of the previous posts. Could you please show me? If you can prove me otherwise, I'm wrong, and I'll admit it.

And there's nothing wrong with the DDR youth. Younger people are just less mature in general, that's all. It's natural for people to be like that at a younger age. I was definately a 9 year old elitist at one point in my life, I'm not going to criticize other little kids for doing alot of the same things.

im 14, and yes, i agree some people my age are snobby obnoxious dicks when it comes to bragging about their ddr skill level. basically, whenever i see people like that, i FC holic and that shuts them up, but i don't run around saying "UH! YOU LIKE THAT doggy!?" unlike some stupid people i've seen. DDR has never been about who can show off the most, or who can FC what. like all games, it's about fun and respect, and no one wants to hear the youth of ddr ranting away about their max 300 D on standard.

That's so not true.. i'm only 14 and im way more mature than a lot of older ppl.. It's kind of immature to stay in a game room for 6 and 7 hours wasting your time on ddr when you 28 years old....or any age for that matter... just that younger ppl have an excuse.

Our younger players get pissed off when us old farts own on them, granted they can rape us at certain songs.

I am 22 yrs old. Is DDR a waste of time? Yes. Is chatting on this board a waste of time? Yes. Age has nothing to do with what you find to be fun. 14 year olds have sex as do 28 year olds, is it a waste of time?

I have a friend who is 28 years old that I used to play DDR with while I was in California, he used to love going out and playing for 3-4 hours. It's not immature, it's an escape, a way to spend your free time.

Heck I know someone that's 32 years old and owns his own machine... It's a blast when we can catch him and his wife on an off night. We bring all of our latest Bemani over to expose them to it all.

I have yet to stumble upon ungrateful and arrogant kids in that young 1-month-old DDR career of mine. The only "kid" I've come across is one to whom I gave basic advice after he failed Butterfly on beginner. The poor kid was trying to imitate the damn guy on the beginner screen. I told him not to do that, and to try to keep both his feet away from the center, and to stay on the last arrow he pushed on. Needless to say, his second song was much better.

Well ive been reading this thread and i myself am 13 while i am not usually an egotistical person, i do sometimes think im really good even though im not but id like to bring a point...it is possible that u may perceive a kid thats actually older than he/she looks based on their height so im just sayin that not all little kids r prolly 12-13 as youre thinking

Remember im jus sayin..unless u do know what theyre ages are..but from a general standpoint YEs most 12-13 kids are short even tho im 5'9' E4.gif

I believe this is getting a little bit off topic...instead of ppl stating what is happening to the ddr youth the ddr youth seem to be defending themselves.....but as for the previous post....you have a point...although it is usually opposite with me....ive had ppl say i looked 18-23...go figure

meh! nothing wrong with us. i'm 12 and i do up to 8 footers and i've been playing only for a couple months. i know a bunch of kids my age that play DDR. we're all addicted. i know a few that started less than a week ago and they are already working on standard. i also know a few that are only a year older than me and they are working on 10 footers.

not -ALL- DDR youth is bad. XD

Damn straight yo!! I'm 14 and am workin on PSM..i can do PS and MAX300 easily now...Sakura is also easy...

Another thing wrong with the youth of DDR today is that they have more people to look at on DDR so therefore it is easier for them to learn...It took me almost 5 months to get on Standard....when i have friends who have been playin 3 months and can almost do Heavy..makes me sick!! frust.gif [/quote]

Theres a lot of other kids around my arcade that run around, throwing stuff at eachother, acting immature. Theres no reason to judge everyone by their age. A lot of younger kids are mature, no need to sterotype. I'm 13 and beaten Max300, Maxx u, Bag, Sakura, and PS and I consider myself pretty mature for my age ;/

I play in a few different places, one where there are no obnoxious little kids <or older people for that matter> and the other where there are plenty.

As for the ddr youth these days, its seems as though they're getting better at the game at a younger age. Not all young ones are annoying but there are a lot that are, but we have to remember that they are young and kids will be kids.
Patients and tolerance is good to practice <unless they're stealing or cheating in the coin line>. But chatty, over-exhuberance is a part of growing up and most of them do grow out of it. So while we try to "help them grow out of it" by repremanding them or telling them they're stupid noobs or something just remember that negative words and actions make them more defensive and most of the time act worse. Ignore what you can and be gentle when a comment or action is needed. I've found it works a lot better that way. E1.gif

As for judging people and assuming they suck because they're young... well that is dumb. I experience that a lot. I'm 23, but I look about 15-17. People assume I suck because I'm female and they think i'm a kid. But when people do that, just play your normal songs and I'm sure they'll leave you alone. When I play V oni and full combo it or get more than half way through LOM <yeah... it still kicks my butt > their attitudes change and they leave me alone and I can have fun again. biggrin.gif

As the older or as the more experienced? Many younger players are better than their elder ddr comrades..so really it should be more experienced not older..
