I found it on japanvideogames.com

Like i said before either a CF or RO.
Dont be fooled by the bar, its just a gimic to try to get customers to overlook the flaws that are inside the unit.

just recently i got a pad for my birthday, thats looks extremely alike to the one above except it didnt come with a bar, and i was REALLY happy. it was my first metal pad. i started to play it right away. it seemed fine for the first 20 minutes......then it start to go to poo. the first thing i noticed was that the up arrow worked either when i didnt want it to or didnt work when i pressed it. i thought, "ok maybe this will go away... think POSITIVELY..." i kept thinking so and it just kept getting worse and worse... now the left and right arrows are pretty sketchy and the up arrow goes berserk. when im on the main menu it presses up CONTINUOUSLY!!!! also the rubber on the bottom has already started to rip.... its coming off and going everywhere. So, here i am, 4 days after having received the gift, sad and disappointed about my first metal pad, and i am writing to anyone who thinks they can help my craptastic pad. if you want the name of the company its BNS USA, which stands for Buy and Shop. PLEASE tell me of some way to fix and possibly make it better. also if anyone can tell me of how to put the bar on the pad as well. i would look myself but im quite resilient to looking through 33 pages of messages. someone PLEASE help me, i would be most pleased biggrin.gif !!!

I'm sorry. I wish I could help you. I would just find a way to rig it up yourself to make it work better. or look on ddrfreak for a mod for that certain type of pad. Sorry I can't help you more.

Im no expert, but I think your problem could be the foil contacts inside the pad. You probably could fix it by opening the panels and replacing the foil with either more foil or else more durable sheet metal.

Exactly....
When will people learn that they get what they paid for, pads aren't and shouldent be a cheap item. So if you expect to have a good product sent to you then you should also expect to pay more then 200.

Hey everyone, I just modded my 'MyMyBox' metal pad, and i gotta say there was a 100% improvement. I've never played on an online-purchased metal pad that actually WORKED GOOD.

I threw up a quick little diagram on how i did it, it's kinda brief but it's not too hard to follow. E13.gif Here's what i did. It's probably not the best idea on modding a metal pad, but it works perfect. ^__^ Just thought i'd throw this up here in case anyone was gathering info on how to mod their metal pad.

This will sound like a REALLY random question....

I want to ask for a Cobalt Flux pad for Christmas, but I have just one concern....

On the rare instances I've gotten to play in an arcade, I've had a problem with freeze arrows. I'm just a tiny little girl, I only weigh about 100 pounds, and more than half the time I don't have enough weight to hold down freeze arrows. (I never have that problem on my soft pads)

A) Any other little people have that problem with hard pads, or am I just crazy?

B) Are CF arrows sensitive enough to recognize that I'm standing on the arrow??

Thanks ^___^

heh, on a CF a kitten could hold down the freezearrows =D

I have read a few people's posts that say that they are willing to buy from non-company websites and will drop considerable amounts of money. I have had a horrible experience with people selling dance pads that seem great until you realize you got scammed.

About two years ago I was looking for a ddr pad that was arcade quality and would work for a long time. At the time there were no metal pads, only ones people had built themselves and posted instructions for on the internet. Yet I stumbled across this website, beat-gear.com, in which the owner promised these great pads that were well-built and whose sensors were patented by himself. I did some checking, found other people who had paid for them and expected them in about 6 weeks (these were preorders for the pads). So I dropped the money to get one, around $450, and waited. I am still waiting today for it. The guy eventually ran out of money because he didn't realize he would have to spend quite a bit to mass produce the parts he promised. He eventually built the pads, but needed more money for shipping them to the US, because lo and behold he was in Peru. He finally got them here in the US but customs wouldn't release them until he paid the import taxes. A few people, like the guy that created Stepmania Chris Danford, dropped large amounts of money to get there pads (I believe it was $3000 or so) and of the 60 that were built only 6 were ever shipped and received. The rest sit in a basement somewhere in Florida, waiting to be shipped. The creator, Derek Leuridian, resides in Peru currently with his family and has not contacted the people that ordered them for almost a year. All involved waited too long to seek legal action, and two attempts at getting the International Business Bureau to help failed. And so, I am still $450 poorer and without a pad.

The moral of the story is that you need to be sure what you are buying and from who. People can promise great things and show you nice pictures, but they could be very unreliable. I myself was stupid at the time, but have wised up considerably. Also, if you ever meet a guy named Derek Leuridian and if he runs when you say Beat Gear, please tackle him and hit him a few times for me.

Aeei... I was wondering whatever happened to those Beat Gear pads, I was seriously considering one after I smashed my second hard plastic one - tip: do NOT buy hard plastic. I think I caught the tail end of the Beat Gear craze, because people were saying the pads were super amazing yet a lot of people had waited months with little to no communication.

I slipped out of the DDR scene for a bit after that. Does anyone know whatever happened to the Green Tea God mats? Did he ever start mass producing them? What about those Konami mats I heard you could buy for, well, hundreds of dollars?

Anyhow, yes, I'm a little iffy about the Cobalt Flux thing, though it's reassuring that they've completed so many orders thus far. I've got no intention of buying low-quality anymore, as it seems increasingly like throwing away money.

If I see Derek I'll make sure to give him the once over - in fact, I'll do it twice.

What do you think of this Newly 6 Arrows Metal Dance pads? IT's arrows panel are made out of poly carbon plastic and not the hard acrylic plastic. It comes with a handle bar also.

Just bought a pad from NeoGames on eBay, does anyone know if this particular pad is notably good or bad? Here's the link:

Very bad. "arrows are made of hard acrylic plastic." Expect to have broken arrow panels and poor responsiveness (due to foil on copper contacts).

Thanks for the replies. Fortunately I have a quiet stepping style so hopefully that won't make it too loud. As far as the arrows go, I'm more worried about the contacts wearing out than I am of the arrows cracking. I'd have to imagine that most of the pads except for the polycarbonate ones will eventually crack but this will be for casual use only. I hope all of the modding posts on this forum are reliable, cuz I plan on opening it up to replace the foil after a while.

Even for casual use the arrows will crack very fast (unless you just started playing DDR and can only play 1-2 footers). How many feet can you play?

I'm planning on having people over one of these weekends to try out my metal pad I modded, and see what they think. I think it's perfect so far, I've been playing on it a few weeks now (8-10 foot songs) and it's still responsive and i haven't had to clean it out or anything...so far so good. I hope that's reliable enough for you, my post is up a few, not hard to find... I couldn't tell you about any long-term problems though, so far i don't think any problems will come up, but if any do I'll be sure to post about it.
