Wha?
While dancing to "Tomorrow Perfume" I came up with an idea. I thought about a statistical analysis of player performance.
Huh?
There are three variables I want to look at - how long one has been playing DDR (months) where they have been playing DDR (home, arcade, both) and what is the highest level that they can complete with at least an "A."
I mainly am looking at the age and feet level, the location might be used with this study but it might not.
I predict that there will be, in the levels between 3 and 7 feet, a clear trend between time played and average performance. After 7 feet, I expect the correlation to dissipate, and I expect poor correlation as well on the lower levels.
I want to create a general performance index, kinda like an IQ test. This doesn't say that someone is a better player or person then another. It simply is for measuring a person's performance compared to others who have been playing for the same amount of time.
Again, a wise man once said there were three types of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. A person with a very high score at a lower level (getting to 4 feet really fast) may have serious problems at higher levels as time goes on, and likewise a person with a very low score lower level (having trouble on 4-feet after a few months) may see great improvement as time passes.
Zum?
I need people's help for this study. All I need is for you to send me (via private messenger, as to not clutter this topic up, or here if you want, what the hell) is:
1. Your username
2. How long you've been playing DDR in months (or years if you prefer)
3. If you play at home, arcade, or both
4. The HIGHEST foot rating you can get an "A" on.
For me, the answers would be:
1. Alpha Operator
2. 2 Months
3. Both
4. 4 Foot
Why???
Because I'm interested in statistically analyzing group performance. |

I'll try this survey thing.
user: wolfman2000
length of time: "Continuously", I'd say 7 months or so.
play area: Mostly arcade; I've been invited to very few "home" gatherings.
foot rating-A: Singles, I've gotten an A on Bag & Sakura (10 footer). Doubles, Holic (8 footer). Paranoia, So Deep, and Bag (heavy doubles) are evil. |

Good, good... I'm working with the data... currently there is not enough to show a good trend... very poor correlation. I'll need at least 30 people from a large range of skills and time to get this, so we'll see what happens. |

Wouldn't age also be a factor? _________________

Age might be a factor, but I'm trying to limit the study right now.
Once I get around 50 or so people (I have about 12 now) I should be able to get some good data.
I'm hoping for a mix of beginner, intermediate, and expert players, so far I've only been getting intermediate and expert, but that's not a bad thing neccessarily. (Don't let this statement stop experts and intermediate players from giving me their data accurately!)
From what I've seen so far there might be a logarithmic trend to the data (y = 0.8234LN(X) + 6.3177) The problem is the y-intercept is very high, and that's because most of the people who've responded to the poll are on the higher end as far as players go. More data may re-inforce or invaludate this current logarithmic trendline.
