So did everyone here about ddr in Japan? My friend told me recently that KOA(or something like that) that ddr in japan is finally dead. He told me that they stopped makeing arcade ddr mixes and that extreme was the last mix(as if some of you allready knew) and he also told me that they stop making japanese console versions. So the only known mixes left are probably US extreme and Ultramix. Sad, isn't it? |

Oh God... *starts to cry*
They can't do this to us! If they don't make the new versions for Japan, at least keep making them for us! THE U.S.!!! It's not dead here! If I type in "DDR" and Google it, I'll come up with hundreds of sites about it!
I'm not even sure it's dead over there yet. Everyone's used to it; after all, it was over there first before we got it. Maybe KOJ just needs to shake things up a bit: i.e. add a new feature, get really hard songs, provide another challenge. Something that screams, "Oh yeah? Think you're good? See if you can handle THIS!"
Then again, that's just my opinion which doesn't count for anything and really should be ignored. Please skip over this post and read someone's opinion that matters. _________________

Sad but true.
Throughout the last week of October, I had a Japanese exchange student living with me. My boyfriend, brother, and I took her around with us when we'd play DDR and what not...
"Nobody plays it there (Japan) anymore."
Looks like it's old news to them. _________________

"Stupid rumors" even though you have no proof that it isn't.
"8th mix is not gonna be there last mix. its at least gotta go for another 2." So you say "stupid rumors" and then give your own. Nice.
"plus how does ur friend know this?" Oooh, that automatically makes you right! Wait...no. Bill Masterman, a Vivid Member here (and the largest arcade distributor in the Pacific Northwest) has stated that members of KOJ have stated that 8th mix is the last mix. Does that mean that it is for sure? No, but there's more proof that it is then there is proof that it isn't. Has anyone stated anything about another mix coming out in Japan? No? Oh, so it's just rumors and hope that you're riding on. Sounds good.
However, that doesn't mean that DDR in general is dead. Just because it's dead in Japan doesn't mean it is dead in the US and Europe. _________________

Since this is about DDR in Japan...I want to know something..
I saw this on one of the King of the Hill episodes.
In Japan, they were playing a DDR machine, but there playing was also being projected onto a big screen (like those in new york) where people walking around could watch someone play.
Do they actually have that kind of DDR play there? |

Well, Ultramix is a new mix isn't it? And that's an American mix too, hopefully that series will continue for a while. _________________

I saw the title of this thread and thought, "OMG! They have DDR in Japan? KEWLZORRZ!"
Kidding.
It's dead. Plain and simple. But it is still alive over here, and when haven't we known a large, popular faceless company to milk a fad to it's dying breath? Look at poor Pokemon. It brings great sadness to me to see that they're still bringing out set after set, even when most everyone has moved on... even I'm still waiting for the triumphant return of the Pocket Monsters, but the future looks bleak, and money will not be needlessly wasted on a futile effort.
:going off on a tangent:
My point: If they know effective marketing, they know that it's still a big thing in America. If they are going to make another mix, they will. They just have to see the profit in it like any company. |

I don't think so... Dance Maniax, Para Para Paradise, and Keyboardmania were discontinued, but Pop'n Music, and Guitar Freaks and Drumania seem to be doing well.
And I can understand why no one in Japan would play DDR... it's been there for five years, so it might get boring. Also, they probably have a lot more IIDX or Pop'n machines over there. _________________

I say stop posting all these stupid rumors and wait it out and see what happens.
Im just getting tired of the same posts all the time about "there is going to be a 9th mix" or "DDR is dead and no new mixes will ever come out"
Just wait Something big will happen and youll see it all over. but until then, just wait. |
