k that was cool. I dunno, I like Cyanides Mikeneko Rock freestyle a little bit better. The shuffling moves that Leroy did were well polished, but Cyanide's was more well polished and complete. If Cyanide did his shuffle moves more like Leroy, it'd have been nice.

let's see... dunno about sl1p, posted the cyanide link already, and I think Kid Zero used to be a ddr freak one but their vids never work it seems. You can find that one though on kazaa looking for 'crypt walk on ddr'.

Don't tell me you haven't seen that......... OMG O_O you are missing out on the craziest freestyling i've ever seen (second best FS.... 1st best- 2 AZN guys in Japan FS on "Kind Lady" in a tourney)
Jing wrote: | Oh...suicide flip and windmill? Well, I have only one thing to say about this. Power moves alone do not make breakdancing. And where can he possibly find room on the pad to pull off a windmill? Or the time to do it and still hit arrows? Unless he did, and there were no arrows on the screen. Then it's not impressive. Sure, the fact that he can do a windmill is impressive, but with no arrows, it's the cheap way out. |
So true....... but you need to know the difficulty of doing such moves like what you have mentioned........ the only way to do moves like that is if you make an edit to go with the move.....
If you ask if i FS??? Yes i do FS.... i do better in FS than PA...... i prefer Routine over Improv even though Improv is the real way to FS..... _________________

I've seen some freestylers hop back and forth over the grip bar..
But what if you are short? Any tips for short people to be able to do that? |

ahhh, i wanna see that video now...dang video section...oh well...i've missed out on alot, since I joined the DDR scene late April. is there a video with those Japan Freestylers?
Yea, i agree that Improv is the real way cuz I'd always thought FS meant to do something at the top of the head. But I love to see the creativity of routines such as Phrek's Wild Rush.
-edit- i didn't really mean that improv is the real way, but it better emphasizes the concept of freestyle. it's just that when u look at freestyle rap, the words have to be thought up at the top of their heads, but some lines are remembered to spice up their lyrics. Actual rap songs are similar to routines in the way that they are well planned out. And we usually enjoy these songs better than freestyle. So yea, routines are basically performances. IMHO, i think they use the category name, Freestyle, in tourneys cuz it sounds better than Rountine Battle, or Performance Plus...yea heh heh. _________________

Oh, heck... when I think routine I think a performance... improv is just like... dancing to the arrows with just general moves, and maybe something funny you can come up with at random. But they're two kinda seperate fields. One can't really say someone who can improv better than routine makes them a better freestyler, or that someone who makes better routines than they can improv does, either... one's more of a test of who can choreograph and perform, and one's more of a test of who is better at on-the-fly performances...
It's just two opposites sides of the same spectrum _________________

For those who don't know. My improv was generally horrible, because I was too focused on passing the song, (if there wasn't Autofail). _________________

Hey, just adding on to the freestyling n00b list.
With my new redoctane pads for practice and a new digital video cam that's weeks away, my goal is to turn a 4-year PA'er into a "decent", and hopefully "fresh" freestyler. A rarity among my side of the monterey bay to my knowledge. I've viewed alot of the freestyle vids myself, all around the US and some from Japan. I've even burned my favorites onto CDs and sent them to people. What I'm trying not to do is take bits and pieces from my favorite freestylers and throw 'em together.
Well, when I pull something I consider a watchable routine together, I'll post it up for commentary and whatnot.
My goal right now: stop looking at the goddamn arrows and dance!! _________________

I'm just wondering what kind of song does justify a lot of arm movement. I'm a bit dancing illiterate and don't know exactly what this raving is (something to do with the overfreestyled Dynamite Rave?), but for a song like Kakumei, I almost think lots of crisp, overextended, defined arm movement gives the song a feel of classical style. I've always wanted to do a freestyle to that song with a girl and waltz across the pads, maybe throw in some salsa turns and dips, etc., etc. Once again, my question is "do you think elongated / abundant arm movement would be justified in the case of kakumei?" _________________
