Funny.... my roommates and a good friend of mine are all 24 or over... and they are pretty good.... (2 can pass doubles catas, and one just started, and he's on sixes...)
Me, I'm 22, and I get along with the 14 year olds who play....

I'm 16, i guess i'm respected as a DDR player, i get quite a few AAAs, and Single Digit Greats. No one takes advantage of me, and i'm not a goody 2 shoes. Age shouldn't matter for DDR anyway... the sticker says Mild Lyrics but for everyone. _________________

/me totters in with his cane.
I'm 31.
I am far from the best at my local arcade, but I can pass Masturi Japan and Rythm and Police on heavy, so I figure I'm not too bad.
Oh, and my wife is also 31 and plays DDR. She doesn't play as often as I do, but she's getting pretty good at doing songs around the 5 foot level, and I think that's pretty good for how little she actually practices.
Oh, and I get along really well with all of the "kids" at the arcade. They're mostly high-school students, but there are some under 15, and some over 20. _________________

I'm 17. I don't dislike people because of their age. I dislike people because they don't got no respect.
As long as the person isn't a lying sack of shit and has something of relevance to say, I'll talk to him/her. One of the little kids that plays is 8 years old and I like him more than some of the people that are my age.
As far as skill goes, most people say I'm the best in the area. I have near AAAs on doubles, a few AAAs on singles and I've AAed nearly everything on the Max2 machine. Also I can pass every singles oni on the machine except demon road and a couple doubles onis.
It's not my age that makes me good or social. |

Im 13, and can pass quite a few catas now (HVAM, Dead End, So Deep, etc). And I think if I beat max300, I might be the youngest person to do it. _________________

I know an 8 year old that can do it on standard and I know a 12 year old girl that can pass on Heavy, reverse, shuffle. |

I agree with her, I am 20 but people say that I look younger and not 20 though. I guess that's good! Anyways around here I get respected by others but some can be jerks and ego-maniacs. |

Most of the people in our arcade are either high school freshmen or in college (I am one of the latter). I like most of them about the same, even the crazy guy who is about 30, never showers and still lives with his parents!
Seriously, age has nothing to do with skill, social or otherwise. _________________

I'm 12 yrs old. I don't get bossed around much, but then my nearest machine is 15 miles away. Curse not being able to drive. I've only been there once, but I'm really good @ home. I think during this summer I'm going to have more machine practice. As far as cards go, I did PIU on a card but it was when I was terrible. I didn't get bossed around, because the machine wasn't popular. _________________

24+ Horrible???
Hey, I'm 53 and only began playing DDR recently. Seriously!
I bought Playstation 2 JUST for DDR. I go to the mall more to watch the kids and to share in the excitement of their accomplishments, but I play there too, and nobody even raises an eyebrow. Sure, I play LIGHT MODE. And sure I'm still struggling with eighths and sixteenths and the corner combos. And sure I'm still struggling to score above a "D" on four-footers. But I've only been playing a few weeks. And I've scored some A's and B's. Oh, and, yes, my left heelbone is hurting a bit. But that will pass.
I have found that the kids who play DDR are a special breed of kids. Yes, most are very young -- under 18. They are dedicated and determined. They are very supportive of each other. They're fun to be around. And they're really pleased that someone my age would take an interest in their game.
They're super kids. And they are very, very, very cool. _________________

Thanks, though I am actually 27 Yasu is 20 now, BTW. What about Akudaikan? He's 37 and still pulling off AAAs on Heavy songs (including BIMP on doubles which is a cata)... Age isn't everything with DDR players. |

I'm 28, married, have a bachelor's degree, I own a house, and have a steady career (6 years at the same place) - and I can pass every 9-footer with a B or higher. Just goes to show that you can be old and responsible and still love DDR.
I'm usually the only person above high school age at the arcade, but most of the kids are very friendly with me. I work with high school kids youth group at my church so I'm used to dealing with them. In fact I got several of my kids interested in DDR and we all go to GameWorks once in a while. |
