3rd and 2nd has some cool old-school songs (Break Out, Cosmic Cowgirl, Helpless). 4th and 3rd has some good songs too (Giant Slug, Depend On You, and the wonderful Day Dream).
As far as worth. If you are looking for replay value, you'll end up at the Endless mode. There's not a lot of stuff to do in the CS versions. Still, they're fun to have and useful for practice.
My verdict: I recommend it, but not highly. _________________

It first appeared in GF7/DM6. I'm not sure if it's still in GF10/DM9.

I got to play DM again this weekend since I came home to Madison. After two games, I got huge blisters on my fingers since I lost my calices, so I had to bandage them up in order to keep playing.
I decided to try Captain's Voyage, and that is a fun song. The rolls are really good, but easy, and they make you look really good. I also FCed Jet World for the first time, which was cool.
I miss DM. |

Yes, Captain's Voyage is an excellent song--very 80s'ish.
I wish some songs by Rush would show up in DM/GF. The drummer is so insane, and there are some crazy guitar solos. A song like Freewill would be perfect for DM and would probably be in the 80s (if they included the drum solo, I bet it'd be in the 90s). |

Captain's Voyage is a great song just like Motoaki Furukawa's songs. It has good rhythm and easy patterns in advanced. Here in the Philippines, players would choose Feel the Earth because it sounds nice and the patterns are heavy yet simple. We would normally play this song while waiting for a new mix higher that DM5/GF6.
What mix would you suggest? _________________

|
|
Some songs have fast 32nd note rolls. To take one example, there is a 16th note run leading into a short 32nd note roll on the snare at the end of Classic Party 1. I suspect that the way you are "supposed" to do these is with a double-stroke roll (RRLLRRLL); however, I find that my double strokes come out too weak to register on the pads. And it seems well-nigh impossible for me to do such a fast roll with single strokes.
So, how do you handle these? Any tips for improving the strength of a rebound stroke? |

In CP1, I do the roll as RRLRRLRRLRRLRR. I'm sure it's probably incorrect, but I can pull off that roll doing this. I can't do double-stroke rolls very well. My left hand is too weak. |

That's a fine sticking for the triplets. I'd still alternate for the 16ths though, so you'd end up with RRL RRL RRL RLRL B
(B=Both, since you have to hit both the cymbal and snare on the 1st beat of the next measure) |

Whoops! I guess those are triplets and 16ths, not 16ths and 32nds as I had thought. Perhaps that explains why I always mess that part up.
For other examples of presumed double-stroke rolls, consult the 32nd note rolls in Primal Soul or the sextuplet rolls in Cosmic Cowgirl long version. |

I forgot about Primal Soul. Yes, that's a good candidate for double-stroke rolls. I love the sextuplets in Cosmic Cowgirl long and always single-stroked those. I suppose you could do a slow double-stroke roll over that, but what's the fun in that? I hope 9th mix has more sextuplets. Twinkle Star has a couple of them, but they're way too short. The sextuplets between the cymbal and hi-hat on Used To Rock'N'Roll are pure evil. |

Recently I've been getting in a lot of Jet Love (Advanced), I was wondering what everyone else thinks of this song. Jet Love along with 777 are my current favorite songs on 8th.
I was also wondering if anyone can pass the least 100 sec. with relative ease. If so, share the friggin' secret! please. |

Yeah, knowing my arcade, we'll be stuck with GF9/DM8 for a lllllloooooooooooonnnnggggg time...
It's a boring mix. I hope we get the new one fast, so we can get rid of this mix with it's crappy bonus tracks and ugly interface. GF10/DM9 can't come soon enough. |

Yeah, I wish I could complain about 8th mix, but I'm stuck with 3rd. Sure it has old songs, but they're old, easy songs. |

Speaking of 3rd Mix, is there was way to get Extreme on the Arcade? I know you can in the CS, but I've looked all over the place, but no one knows the code, so I'm wondering if there even is one... _________________

Expert Real = Extreme
You just hit the tom over a few times to 'unlock' it. |
