What if when you're looking for places to play DDR, you would have two pictures. One picture would be what the arcade looks like on the outside and the other picture would be the DDR machine inside the building. It would give everyone a better feeling of what these places are like. What do you guys think? |

Hmm. I don't know about the inside, but the outside appearance might be indeed a good idea. It helps newcomers find the place easily.
That is, only if we get permissions from the arcade owner that we can post the picture on our site.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see what we can do about it.

Why would you need permission to post a picture of the outside of an arcade? _________________

We don't want them complaining about how we are giving them free advertising. Because businesses HATE free advertising.

What happens if someone takes a pic, then someone else comes and is like "My pic is better!, etc., etc"? _________________

Hmmmmmmm well I definitely agree with the legal stuff...advertising etc. etc. especially around here in the Southern California area/Long Beach area....most famous DDR machines are located in specific malls so security is also very very picky. With permission this could all be avoided.....
Afterall it shouldn't be too hard to ask a manager at an arcade for permission...about the inside..probably just a picture of the DDR machine and the few machines around it?
I like the idea very much...good idea.
And about what Junior Said..I think it should be first come first serve..but on the other hand...pictures that are clearer and support more of a detailed location of the facade.....and area should get priority..? _________________

There could be I suppose...but I wouldnt be interested in anything else but a DDR machine at a location page...so I'd probably just take a picture of the DDR machine from a distance and give a general location I suppose and the surrounding machines... But that's how I would handle it. And give a brief textful information enclosing it's location.
Like the DDR machine is In "blah" next to "blah" and "blah" something like that
(Then again I am also speaking from a 56k'ers point of view to have the number of pictures limited. Perhaps 3 max of the inside?) to limit traffic for us slow people _________________

Unless you have the pics prescreened, there's potential for abuse. We have 10 year olds visiting the site, and the last thing we need is for one of them to look at the photos of DBA and find pixx0rz of JA and J Dogg's wild Vegas "adventures"...

Yeah, we would absolutely need the mods to approve them all and stuff. And I doubt more than one picture would be necessary for any particular place. There'd definitely have to be some sort of limit because no one wants a Locations page full of 27 images... _________________

I'd be more than happy to take pictures to participate in this project. You have my support 100% of the way.
I can definitely cover my arcade that I play at...and a few other arcades as well that have DDR.
-Give the specs.
-Arcade Mix Number
-Cost effeciency

How about a link to the location's website? That way the location can determine how much or little info and pics to provide. |

My idea for the machine locations is to have a special comments section where members can post comments on the machine, but there can be like a word limit per comment, and one comment per member.
For example
*stomp hard to get perfects*
*Volume is very low on this machine*
*pad is in bad condition*
etc...
some people already do put comments, but they just add them after the location of the machine in the arcade _________________

So long as you are in a public place when you take the picture, its completely legal, permission or no.
Such as, I can't legally go inside an office building and take pictures without consent, but I can take as many as I want from the street outside the building, and those pictures can be through the window, open doors, or of just the exterior.
Th eonly time you'd have problems is when the arcade is located inside of a mall, but then I think malls are the easiest locations to find from the information given, with or without a picture. They tend to stand out. |
