That's It! I'm Passing This If It's the Last Thing I Do!!
Have you ever come across a song that, for some reason, you felt that

1) You knew you could beat it, but for some reason you couldn't
2) You just liked it so much
or
3) You got so frustrated with it

so much so that you had one of those moments of resolution where you suddenly say (or think) to yourself "Darnit, I'm gonna keep playing this song, and I'm not gonna stop playing today until I nail it!"

Such that you played it 10-20 times in a row or played it for several hours then finally nailed it and felt really good about it?

I know I've had such situations. I liked Break Down, but for some reason I couldn't keep up with it on Standard. I then resolved that I was gonna play it until I got it. So after 7 attempts within about half an hour, I finally passed it with (of all grades) a B.

Of course, I'm better than that now, but I was just wondering what kinds of songs you made such resolutions on.

Let There Be Light! *Angels Singing "Hallelujah"*
Ever have one of those moments of revelation, where a certain technique or step pattern just suddenly clicked with you and your playing ability increased dramatically (without the assistance of asking someone else)?

A point at which you went "Oh my God, I think I just got it!" or more likely "My God, where did that come from?!"

I was playing one day and I inexplicably gained the ability to do crossovers. I didn't even know they were called that at that point, but I knew it let me play a bunch of songs on Standard.

And yesterday, I played on Heavy for the first time. I played Silent Hill, Dream a Dream, and Love At First Sight, and suddenly discovered I could do long streams of eighth steps. I felt it was a breakthrough.

Anyone have similar revelations?

I just kind of let things progress naturally until I started trying 9-footers. First I tried Rhythm & Police a bazillion times, and never passed it. Then I tried the method on Burning Heat and eventually passed it...I can still only get a C (almost to a B now). I eventually passed R&P, and now I'm working on So Deep.

But I understand about the Break Down thing. The day I got Max2, I played that song about 15 or 20 times out of pure addiction laugh.gif

I was playing Rhythem and Police on heavy and I got to a sertane point and fail. I go to training mode and looked at the part I kept on failing on and memerised that section. I go back and play it and end up AA'ing it. E4.gif

Ooooooooooh yeah....that happens to me all of the time.

For awhile, I just could NOT pass Cartoon Heroes, and I suddenly did it (in flip-flops, of all things) and broke out with a bar "B." Now, I can constantly get a "B" on it and I'm even starting to find spins and crap.

Sakura....that song was always I either fail on the first slow part or I got a "B," but I did it one time and full-comboed the thing until the piece with the jump (the only "A" I've ever had on a 10-footer). Now that I finally figured the first slow part out, I'm putting spins and dances into the easier parts of the song and still having fun turning and prancing on the harder parts (go FSing 10-footers....too bad I can't do 'em all...).

There's other (I just figured out how to turn...I've been getting "B"s and low "A"s on EE 'cause I had to double-step the end, lolz...no idea how I got "A"s ever, though) things I find out about every day (een while doing DWIs), so I say keep at it and you can get just about any song down.

Paranoia Survivor Heavy? For that, my friend, you get a cookie for once. In fact, PSM deserves an entire jar.

*gives Max's Period a jar full of cookies so he might enjoy some himself, and hand out the rest*

On DDRMAX for PS2, the only thing that kept me from getting the Dance Master (Heavy) information was a B on MAX 300. I let some time pass so that I would practice on DDRMAX2 and get better. Finally, I returned to DDRMAX and was detrmined to get an A or better. I played it about 5 times or so, either getting a B or failing towards the end. Eventually I got it after I took a short break. I don't think MAXX Unlimited is going to be as easy...

Yep, a couple of times actually. First was when I played Paranoia Evolution until I got an A. That took me a couple of days. Next was Sakura and that was until I passed it period. E1.gif

I remember when I first started playing, the song that really bugged me was 22dunk (on DDRMax, PS2) on Light. That last stream of 8th's with crossovers was soooo hard to read. I put it on practice mode and did that part probably 20 times until I had it down. And when I'd go back and play it in arcade mode I'd choke when I got to that part. laugh.gif Man was I ever a dork.

I did this w/ Maxx Unlimited on STD. I could never pass it even when I got an A on Max300 STD. Finaly I focused myself after trying a few times and did it twice in a row. I still have trouble on that that one stupid part with the fast doubles! frust.gif
