|
|
I find I can't just start on catas when I play; I have to get warmed up and in "DDR mode" to do them. So my question is this--which songs do you use (if any) to get started?
I usually play one or two of the following:
Cartoon Heroes (standard) -- I think the bouncing gets me hyper
Spin the Disc (heavy) -- pretty easy, trying to PA it
A (heavy) -- just fun, gets my muscles working
Kind Lady (heavy) -- helps my eyes focus on the arrows
Twinbee (Heavy) -- funsies, good 8-footer to get me going
321 Stars (Heavy) -- I guess I'm just a sucker for 8th mix, huh? _________________

I always like to warm up before attempting anything crazy, as well.
My favorite warmups are Soul6, From Solo and Naoki Neo-Standard, but if I'm not playing Oni, I'll play some 7s and 8s. I think my favorites are Freckles, Midnite Blaze, Last Message, 1998, and any song that has tricky timing as opposed to fast stepping. I might even try something on Standard in the 6 range.

Anything but ten footers. Usually some heavy song I conclude I need to PA, so when I don't do as good as I wanted to on my warmup, I can be like, "Well, that's because it was a warmup song."
Or, more ofte, random all nonstop on heavy. |

I usually only really do one warm up song. My first game usually consists of;
Song #1 Random Cata; Usually CSFIL(SM), Irresistiblement, or So Deep.
Song #2 Current PA; Working on Love Shine (Heavy), down to 9 greats.
Song#3 Current 10 footer; Currently working on PSM Oni. That song pisses me off because it is the only one I cannot pass.
And then, I probably don't play any more DDR at all, because we just recieved IIDX. _________________

On Extreme:
Senorita(Speedy Mix) on Heavy......ALWAYS. I love the stream of that song.
And if for some horrific reason I'm in no mood for Senorita, then it'll be I'm In the Mood For Dancing on Heavy. _________________

Heh, I play at home so much, I have to go into uber-noob mode to warm up... my three warmup songs:
1. CRASH! on standard, easy song, easy to get used to the position of the arrows.
2. Breakdown! standard because it lets me callibrate how hard I have to push to keep the freeze arrows registering. Damn crippled pads...
3. Abyss heavy because it's a good, well rounded song that lets me get used to all the elements in general.
I might play Breakdown again afterwards, cuz its so damn fun to AA... then Afronova standard, and then try to AA My Summer Love heavy to wow the tiny crowd of grannies and miserably fail the extra stage... _________________

On Singles, just lately I've been playing Graduation just for the sake of me lovin the song and tryna AA it. I know stupid huh? It's offsync and hard to AA or even AAA for that matter. Most likely it's something I want to AA and a song I like.
On Doubles, I usually play songs I can pass most of the time but most likely it's Kiss Me All Night Long. I <3 that song. _________________
