I haven't had TOO many bad experiences with kids in the arcade, except for two.
1. - I was at an arcade near my cousin's house playing versus with him. Some 8-year-old skater punk walks by and says something like "DDR is gay. Screw you, queers." Of course, I just spun around while still playing a song (I forget which one) on Heavy and flicked him off, so it's all good.
2. - This actually just happened the other day. I had just played Era on Heavy and I was about to pick my second song when some girl jumps up on the pad pushing me over and starts jumping up and down and waving her arms like she's having a seizure. Then her dad (I guess) calls her and she goes running off, neither of them saying anything to apoligize. Granted, I just let this one go, but I was about to get very pissed. _________________

About a year ago(June 3rd I think), I wish at Disneyworld on our school band trip. I didn't really have a problem with anyone getting in my way, but when one of my turns was over this one kids gets on, looks to be 13-15 years old. First of all, everything he says, he says EXTREMELY LOUD. Then when the Japanese warning thing comes up, he VERY LOUDLY mocks the machine for having Japanese text. I ask out of curiousity if he's played before to which he replies, "NO I have NOT thank you verrrry much!" I brush it off, not looking to cause trouble or a scene. He picks a song and starts playing. Then he has the nerve to call me back and ask me how the hell to play the stupid game. I tell him to hit the arrows when they meet there, and he says "Thats gay!!!!!!!!" So he just starts flailing like a moron, fails, and says "What a waste of my moolah!"
Also, later on I tried to get a 2nd turn, which I waited in line for, and then these groups of fatsos come up demanding a free play for no reason when they were playing the machine for like an hour. So I got booted off.
pfff, and all that just for an obscenely overpriced Disney mix. Hope I don't have any trouble next Tuesday when I make first contact with Extreme... even though I still suck. |

Jees, After reading all of these problems I think it's crazy for the crap these lil kids do to us.
First Problem My FAV
Well, I was playing at the mall, Vans Skatepark if you want to know. about 6 different kids started mocking me and they were like mommy that games so easy I wanna play, so their parent or guardian came over and asked if they use one of my songs for them to play. what do you think I said? If you thought "sure go ahead" *hits you up side the head* dude that's NOT cool ever.
Second Problem My really Conflict
Same place I was playing, this kid about 12-15 was like look at that fat buttocks playing. Yah I am not a skinny kid, but how many "fat" guys do you know that can Full Combo R&P? Maniac?? So he started shadowing me, I didn't mind untill he pushed me off the pad and started playing. BIG MISTAKE! I asked him nicely to get off the pad and he said no. I was pissed, then I yelled at him to get off, No again, Then I pushed him off fell HARD on the other pad and started crying, and his parents were like why did you do that and they were doggy at me. I explained to them what happened, and the people working there explained what happened and they were banned!
Can't the watchers and players get a long?

I had a time wear I was wating for about a hour or so I can get one game of ddr fun. The sec I hop on the pad to take my tune a girl has the guts to come up to me and say hurry the hell up are you done yat. Man waht it look like I just got on. I can't do 3 songs in 1 half sec. But I kept it cool and let her on after my game. Come you may play if you like!!! thanks or did she thank Me?? Oh will I did my part! anyways I even had a time wear me and my 17 year old sister wear playing DDR. I told her it's my tune to pick a song she starts crying a way like she was only five when I picked Long tran Runing By Bus Stop. She was Kiking me right off the pad making me miss just about every thing. Also not being able to find out how much better i was at that song till 3 weeks bug me alot!!! frust:
Also I had a time a little kid hope on my game and made me miss a few steps but I was a angel to hem I let hem jump all he like and smile seeing hem smile bake a lost but it's all about having fun and the boy was more inportent then the game. The dad even smile at me for me being nice to let hem do that to me.
So remember that you life comes frist try to think of that when you play ddr. I know at times you got to take a stand when somone you know is trying to take over your game and they old to wear they other know what somone is going to do when thay just still a game from you to upset you. Then you got to stand up and do somthing. I only do this when I have to. I'll at time stand up for other ture ddr fans that I see being hurt. They was a time I try standing for a DDR Fan I love seeing play DDR when they was a DDR contest at the newport R.I game Room. They sade she diden't make it when she hit just about every thing. What wear they doing!!! If they going to have a contest play it right. I gone up to them saying I know she made it!! I seem to look dum doing that but I was just be Kind for one of My fav DDR fans I was hoping they let her bake in the contest and she give me a big thank you hug and play ddr with me some day!!! but that not what happen She look at me dum or maybe she was like woo he sticking up for me!! But she never seem to of got bake in and the guy I was saying this to just gaves me a go away hand sign!! I was having a bad day the last few min at the contest snice that happen. |

(Townies == Adidas wearing monkeys who smoke like chimneys, act black and generally try to start fights in the male case)
Today I was at home for the weekend from college, so I was down the local arcade playing on Extreme (there isn't one within 100 miles of my uni so I had an absolute blowout today -- spent something like $50)
First go a bunch of townie girls that were playing beforehand just randomly claimed that I'd shoved one of them off after they put their credit in and stolen their turn (this was just after I'd put my own credit in and it was still at the start screen). I'm pretty sure I could have convinved the guys working there that this was all complete bollocks (especially seeing as they were loudly complaining about being out of money just beforehand so were almost certainly trying to scam a turn off me) but I ended up getting really pissed off about it and that kinda damaged your credibility so I was like "fine whatever, take my credit then and much good may it do you". Principle is principle but it's only a pound.
Anyway yeah, later a bit of a crowd had gathered and some punk was trying to piss me off; after heckling a bit he started to put his foot on the down panel. This was getting really bloody irritating so for the next down arrow on the screen I slammed the "panel" with a fair bit more force than usual, hoping it would make him piss off. Instead he decides to shove me right into the machine, then starts getting in my face and trying to start a fight... right in front of the arcade staff. I calmly turn around and ask them to deal with him and he got summarily booted. Still lost my third stage because of that though (I had a head on him and unlike your average townie twat I'm not terrified of throwing a punch so I could probably have taken him on, although I'd have been thrown out too and it's more satisfying this way )
Some bunch of girls was hanging around the machine later on and I ended up stepping on one of their feet at one point, purely by accident this time. Asked if she was ok afterward and she seemed a bit hacked off but was generally civil about the whole thing. Even when people start monkeying around or heckling I don't mind too much, but the line has to be drawn when you're actually thrown of the pads guess I should be a bit more pissed off about all that but I'm too nice for my own good.. |

Jeez, All these experiences sound so bad. I'm fortunate to not have as many assholes arround. The 2nd worst experience I ever had was this 2 year old slowly approaching the stage. He was about to put his hands somewhere on the stage, and just then the song ended. I hold him that you should stay away from that area. I doubt he understood, but his mother came over and picked him up and left. I don't think she noticed me, just that her kid was about to get a shoemark on his hand.
My first is this. I was dancing to Max300, and this slut shoved me off with such force that I cleared the other pad. He was stupidly "dancing" to give DDR'ers a bad name. At that point, I yelled out "TIME TO BLEED!". I ran after him for a minute or so. the bitch got away. I swear, if I see him again, I will choke the living shit out of him. _________________

One time when i was playing doubles a pack of little girls came in and watched me play my first and second song then they decided "hey lets jump on the other side while he isn't on it"!
I played max 300 heavy doubles last and they kept getting in my way so after they saw that i failed they decided to leave. I work at the arcade and decide what goes and that didn't go so while they were walkng down the hall i yelled "If you guys plan on doing stupid poopy like that when your in here then don't come back!"
A couple of them thought it would be funny to act like they were going to come back to the arcade by running back my direction and i was standing at the door staring them down.
I should have called security and said they stole something! _________________

1- One time a was doing a song on stealth + mirror. Since I was facing the opposite of the screen, I had the look at the little 6 year olds doing this really retarded imitation of me. They also kept screaming and I could barely hear the music. I didn't let this distraction bother me too much. Because I was patient about this, I was rewarded with a full combo (and 59 greats).
2- Often, when me and my friends are trying to decide during the song selection, there are little three year olds that jump on the pad and start stomping the arrows. Some walk on the pad to get to the other side of the room. They don't know how to go AROUND the machine.Maybe I shouldn't be making a big deal out of this because they are small and don't know any better, but the parents don't do much to control their kids.
3- Occasionally, the arcade can be pretty crowded. There are some kids their that think that they are clever enough to cut the line without being noticed. Since no one knows who's coin is who's on the side of the machine, anyone could just CLAIM that they're next. |

If i am picking a song and somebody gets on, i will tell them to step off nicely. If they are on while i am dancing, i make every effort possible to make hard physical contact with them. I especially like doing that when i am doing doubles. hehe _________________

I know that feeling. I hate it when kids screw around with my options. Some won't even get off the pad when I politely ask them to. |

Stompers irritate the hell out of me. After my game, a few kids wanted to try out the Extreme machine, which I have no problem with. They select beginner mode, and during the song, they pound the CRAP out of the machine! I came back after I had pizza, then when I began my turn on the machine, I notice the arrow panels are shifting and sliding. The pad, itself was moving up and down like a mini seasaw.
There was kid I versed in an old tourney. I only won because of all the misses he got in Legend of MAX (maniac) when I got an A. I was in another PERFECT attack tournament a few weeks later. The same kid was there, I can tell he still held a grudge against me. He called me a bundle of sticks and gave me the finger. I was twice his size and could have easily kicked his buttocks, but lucky for me I'm good with controlling my temper (unless you push me over the limit). The pads were repaired 100% 2 hours before the tourney began. Nothing shifted and the pad stayed in place. During Round 3, there is this kid playing a 7-footer (I think Hyper Eurobeat). He is getting pissed off because he was getting a bunch of Greats. He felt stomping was the solution for more Perfects. In the end, he lost and ran outside the arcade. I just hate when people can't be a good sport PLUS they're abusive to the pad. I always shake everyone's hand before and after each round regardless of win or loss.

This thread should be a sticky!!!
The one time I was at the arcade to play DDR so far (at Park City Mall) a kid kept getting on the second player pad when I was trying to do doubles. While dancing, I calmly explained to him that I was using that pad, so he got off peacefully.
I'm glad it went well, but I see that some of you are not as lucky.
This is gonna be one of my favorite threads for entertainment. _________________
