Hey Frosty, can you take a pic of the inside of an arrow panel so that we can see the contact system? Also, when taking off that annoying stuff covering the panels, was there some small portions of it stuck (like if you put a sticker on a paper and peel it off or something like that)? How did you remove it all, and did it says that you cleaned the pad on one of the pics. How did you clean the pad (what did you use and what did you clean)? Also, can somebody shoot a movie of the pad in action? |

Question for anyone who owns a RO metal pad:
How much do the arrows bend in when you step on them? Is it annoying? _________________

DAMN IT! http://www.savageddr.com/redoctane/inside1.JPG
Now I'm not getting this pad. Why would they use a cheap contact system like this? It is just like their old metal pad. Cheap sensor plate that can have dust and stuff build on it causing automatic triggering, and cheap aluminum foil that easily gets burn marks, rips, and falls apart causing it to fall on the sensor and triggering the arrow. You can already see cracks on it on the pic! It's already starting to fall apart! While I was reading through the IGN thread I immedately changed my mind about getting a CF until I saw the pic of the inside |

Are there any pics around showing the contact system for a CF? |

CF is better because it uses Sheet metal on sheet metal contacts. I got a pic from the CF forums but now the pic is gone. It is basically just a full sheet of sheet metal on both the arrow and the place where the arrow goes. I'll try to get another pic to show you.
Edit: Here is the pic: http://www.angelfire.com/freak2/bsphil/incf.jpg

But the thing is, I've been using the poopy out of my RO pad since the day I got it...5 catas a day, every day. NO problems. Maybe it's just a much better designed system, maybe the foil is a different kind, maybe that guy got a prototype with a different contact system. Who knows, but SO many peoiple have gotten an RO, and we all have had NO problems, if that says anything. |

If he did get a prototype or something, can you open up your pad so that we can see if yours has the same contact system? |

Hey yall, I got a question. Ok, so I am either gonna get the RO Metal pad, or the CF. I really wanna get better for in the arcade, which pad is closer 2 the arcade pad? Or which will help me get better for in the arcade. |

On my RO pad the down arrow started to stick so I unscrewed it and had a look inside. Boy was I ever disappointed to see the metal foil contacts.
What had happened with my pad was the metal foil had started to unpeel and curl. The little curl on the foil was making contact with the metal on the bottom and completing the circuit, making the arrow stick.
Why oh why have they made their pads like this? I've already emailed them and asked for an exchange, but that was before I took off the arrow and saw they docided on this GAWDAWFUL foil. I think I'll just flat out return the thing.
The pad is awesome when it WORKS, but now that I've seen these foil contacts (mine are already cracking, peeling, and even starting to flake) I don't think it'll last very through long-term heavy usage. |

Another problem I noticed.
This is a video of some guy playing cartoon heros on a RO pad. http://www.savageddr.com/media/videos/2/tamagokun_cartoonheroes_hgeavy_frinalround.wmv
Is it just me, or is the corners on that thing flying up like its a soft pad or something. What also bothers me, is how the pad is bending under pressure. This kid probably only weighs about 130-140. I am 6' 5, 215 lbs, and it looks like I would destroy that thing. |

The entire pad has a steel bar around it. The frame of the pad doesn't flex. In that video it looks like the ends are flying up just because he's on carpet. |

I'm just gonna stick with my RO. It may use the foil contacts, but I'll change that when it needs changing. It has polycarbonate panels (++++), never slips (++++), feels just like the arcade (++++), and works great (so far).
I mean, All I'll have to do is get a thin sheet of solid aluminum, and attach it to the bottom of the arrows, in the same manner as the foil. |

Hey, can someone tell me. Which pad feels more like the arcade, the Cobalt Flux or the Red Octane Metal pad? |

The RO by 50 times. The CF is 100% flat. making it really hard to keep track of where you are. |

The RO is good, but I think the CF is better. The CF has a way better contact system, way better reputation, and a 6 month warranty. Most people don'e like the pad because it is flat or say they did horrible because its flat, but they have to adjust to the pad. Everyone who ownes a CF says that at first they did really bad because they weren't used to the pad, but in one day of playing they were fully accustmed. |
