Help with LEDs

Im building my own metal pad and i was was wondering if there is any way to have it so when you press on the arrow an led lights up

i was thinking of getting a controller with leds already on it then id solder one end of the wire to one contact and the led to the other...is this right???
also whut kind of LED would i use....

ps...if any1 knows where to get an offical ddr arrow graphic that would be grately appreciated

yah listen to how is always wrong [lol]. What i would do is probably have a powered pcb and just solder all of the LED's there. If you do not want to have it powered up away from the pad it's self look up at some soldering help and I think you can have it powered through another pcd

or you can just use extra buttons on the pad. when it hits make it so wwhen you hit it it goes through the LED and to the console.
