Ok, now I've heard that sometimes people can get pretty wild in the arcade versions of DDR, like doing break-dance moves and flipping and hitting the pads with their hands. Has anyone ever seen anyone get injured playing DDR at home or at an arcade?

(Oh, and btw, are there any threads that list common DDR slang and terminology? One thing I've been looking for a word for is when a person is playing, they get tired or distracted and screw up, and then have trouble getting restarted and end up missing tons of steps or outright failing. I call that "stalling" or when it causes failure "crashing.")

Well I've sprained my ankle more than a few times at home and i've fallen at the arcade once. But nothing too big.

Actually I was playing Max 300 on light and I just lost my step and slipped onto the nearby Crazy Taxi machine. But I was fortunate for the Crazy Taxi machine.

I slipped off the stage in the arcade and my lungs almost collapsed from over-exhaustion.

Yeeesss... that would be a good term, but I'm thinking of something that is more of a physical and mental combination, and it seems the latter would be more of a mental thing. Good term for it still.

I've seen people who manage to miss the center of the pad, hit the corner of it with there knee, and severly injure themselves.

Happens alllll the time. The only two things I've seen happen is:

1) one guy here was sitting on the pads and tried to hit the up arrow a few times with his hand, and wound up hitting the screw really hard and his hand started bleeding.

2)a few people play here without shoes, and people have gotten their toe/foot caught on the screws or shoot up parts of the arrows and done damage.

maybe a few people have slipped off the machine *cough*me*cough* E4.gif

hm....lesse...

1) Hitting my hand against the side of a kid's head (that was an accident, I swear)

2) a) The one and only time I played without shoes (cuz I was wearing my platforms and those aren't fun to dance in), I nearly slipped off because the two girls before me failed to mention that the pad was recently cleaned with some slippery stuff

b) I hit my toe on a screw

c) Hitting my hand on the safety bar trying to keep balance on slippery arrow O_o (the left and top ones)

I've been pretty fortunate. Just a handful of blisters. Oh, and my toe turned blue while I was playing in my boots.

Happened to me last week about ten steps into an oni course. It was terrible. A huge waste of money.

I've never had any bad injuries. I think I got a blister once, and another time a leg cramp, but that's about it.

sprained my ankle before falling off my metal pads at home

the other day, i was playing barefoot on my home metal pads and my foot got stuck in one if the screws and i ripped a chunk of skin off the bottom of my foot.

happened before too at the arcade when a friend asked me if i could play barefoot....hmm, i did pretty well until i tore a chunk of skin off the bottom of my foot (darn screw) and it started bleeding all over hte place.
