for me, i have a feeling it might end in a couple of years, but it would be kind of cool if it had a sort of expansion something like:

dance dance Evolution

i could c it now...u would have all diagonal arrows and the up down left right ones. how does that sound to you?

I see hundreds, no, thousands of otherwise non-social creatures coming together. Bound as one by what anybody not in the group would think is a pathetic game. I see...I see...socially deprived teens, young adults, and even older adults...experiencing the elementary levels of human interaction. The type of interaction most other people might have had as infants. I see swarming masses non-hygenic, unattractive, and generally mildly retarded nerds watching the exceptional of the mediocre and cheering them on as they battle each other for the top prize. The admiration of what, unfortunately, are their peers.

BTW, there is already a game with 4 diagnol + 4 "normal" arrows. It sucks. DDR will not last much longer. I give it a year. What will be more interesting than seeing where ddr goes, is seeing where the "community" goes when it all comes crumbling and crashing down.

If you hate the game so much, why bother posting in the forums?

Hmmmmmmmm my future I see in DDR? AAA'ing more songs......possibly. I got my first AAA this past SAT after needing one for the longest time. Just seems like getting Single digit greats isnt enough anymore.

And improving my PA on those damn 10 foot songs. I'm getting there right now...slowly but surely. Getting better as the weekends go by... I can't PA the 10 foot songs [pies] for crap at all. If my life depended on it I couldnt do it. So I could see myself doing better on those in the near future.

I see arrows...possibly of the up, down, left, and right directional varieties scrolling, possibly upward, on a screen with backgrounds that may or may not be trippy...and there will be music!

Now...seriously...I hope it keeps going for a long while...like...eons...it will be fun...we'll be like 80 going "I remember when there were only 10 mixes...those were the days...you young people are spoiled with your DDR 100th mix...and your 12 difficulties..." ok...I'm bored now...

I can see arcade operators being pressured into clearing off their DDR Extreme's Player's Best list - almost a year's worth of record-keeping - because the local DDR elitists want to play one secret set of steps for Love Shine and Dam Dariram.

Oh wait.

I honestly cannot come to a clear conclusion on what I think the future of DDR looks like, in some areas I see it is strong and only getting stronger this mostly applys to the home version area, with MAX 2 USA and Extreme, and soon Ultramix, it would seem as though Konami is still interested in the playing at home aspect of DDR, however when it comes to arcade play it doesn't seem to clear on what will happen, in my area I see a lot of players but not really that many DEDICATED ones, very few times will I see the same person that was there last week there next week also or ever again most times. Overall I think the future of DDR depends on the dedication of the players and their interest level in it, i've been playing for 2 1/2 years now and my interes has never gone down, I know there are more like me out there but most people still need a huge dedication boost, DDR depends on it happy.gif

As long as IIDX, GF/DM is hot DDR will remain hot. DDR has a lot more life left in it than people realize.

Well, around here it is still pretty popular, but this is a small place in a huge world. We have our group that comes on the weekends, and sometimes on the weekdays, but that is about it.

Personnally, I see myself playing for maybe another year or so, and that is about it.

I have to wonder how it is fairing out in Cali for example. How is it out there anymore?

JSB (a.k.a Jamez) made a good point of where the "community" will go after the dance is done. Hmm....

I'm predicting that I get all my songs up to Trick/Standard and some up the Heavy (maybe) a few weeks/months after that [last two mixes] happen, lol

i've been stuck on Standard for ages. Maybe I'm not meant for anything higher

I can definately see it getter more popular as time progresses. I think it will last as long as asia is around. After that it will have to resort to crappy american songs and then it's all over.

I can see DDR being forced to adopt more bad American songs in an attempt to get more money. Kinda like how Pokemon keeps coming back =P
