Hey.... I'm sorry for being a dumb a-hole, because I'm sure this has been answered multiple times, but I want to know if there are any decent metal pads out there that will meet these requirements:
1. Can't cost more than 175$ (including shipping)
2. Pretty responsive
3. Will last a REALLY long time without modding (I don't play very much, but I do play enough to kill a BNS DX in 6 months. If I get a metal pad, I had better not have to buy another)
I'm not overweight (unless 140 pounds is overweight) and I step fairly lightly, so it doesn't have to be designed for sumo wrestlers. The Neo thing on ebay looks nice, but I know from experience ebay-exclusives tend to not scream quality. Thanks in advance! |

I would have to say RO of CF my friend. Both of these are the best on the market at the moment. Don't be deceived by el-cheapo pads out there... i.e E-Bay brands, lik-sang etc. They are just crappy, cheap imitations. But as far as your money limits, well I guess you have to settle for one of those. But honestly, I WOULDN'T. As forementioned, I recommend the RO & CF. Good luck. _________________

Hmmm... so the BNS thing isn't any good? I might look into the RO, but its a little more than I'd like to spend. For that kind of cash, I'd want it to last till I move out for college (3 years). |

Do you know what model of his pads you bought? Cuz he claims that the newer models need no modding....but again....he could just be lying to me....i dunno....
|
I bought the model with the metal frame around the side; i havent modded them at all and they're working great. However i think eventually you would have to replace the foil underneath; i looked under the arrows and they use regular aluminum foil. You'll probably have to replace that eventually becuase of use. Mine are getting a little black. _________________

I was at the local fun center playin' yesterday and me and this kid were discussing metal pads. He mentioned that he's getting one from E-bay for $400. My first reaction was that he has getting jacked from them for the fsct that E-bay NEVER sells adequate pads. They are all pieces of poopy. But he said they were the used pads from the ARCADE and all you have to do is fix them up and hook them to the PS2. Now, my question to all of you reading this, IS THIS TRUE? I looked on e-bay looking for that and all i found is the DDRUSA arcade game for $1000. Let me knoiw if this guys was pullin' my freakin' leg. _________________

Why spend over $150.00 on a crappy metal pad??? Build a $100.00 pad with hardcore materials and wire it yourself!
#1: Wayyyyyy cheaper.
#2: Wayyyyyy more durable and seriously heavyweight.
#3: If it breaks or needs maintenence, YOU built the dang thing, so it's a snap to work with.
I got all my 26 gauge metal for FREE just because I was willing to wait 3 months for the fabricator to get to the project. Just be patient and you can find REALLY cheap but durable parts. |

1)time is money
2)durability is subject to what you do with it and how you use it
3)some people prefer NOT to mess with the wires and want it to just work
4)time is money and waiting 3 months costs you loads of fun |

i have a suggestion for you people, and it may come as a shock.
DO NOT JUDGE A PAD UNLESS YOU HAVE PLAYED ON IT YOURSELF.
i've been reading this whole thing and a lot of people are saying that BNS pads "look like pieces of crap" and talking about "i bet the arrows crack" on suchandsuch pad, etc... how can you know for sure if you don't own one?
a lot of people have legit questions but they're getting answered by the wrong people. namely, the ones who don't own those pads and are just making assumptions or are hearing from others.
and don't reccomend RO or CF pads unless (once again) you own one or played on one long enough to make a good judgement. the price does not justify the quality in all cases. (just look at the XBox.)
obviously if the BNS, Lik-Sang, NEOGames, etc. pads are such bad quality, people wouldn't be buying them now would they?
just my 2 cents on the metal pads.
but ANYWAY, i just won this and i can't wait for it to come in. someone (who oens one) told me that they're really good and they play well. not too loud, either. just what i was looking for. _________________

Ok, my friend bought DDR max, And now I play it more than he does. His soft mat is going out (I think), but I no longer can get the scores I want. I always play in light mode so I'm not very good, but playing from arcade to soft pad is a real pain so I thought I invest in a metal pad. I can't spend 300 on a pad but I'm willing to spend about 130-150. I can only play all 3 footer right now and some 4 footers. I'm looking at the metal pads on ebay and they seem tempting but I want some more opinons. CF and RO are out of the question. And I don't want to build one(not that I can't I just don't). thank you for all your input _________________

That's why I've posted about them....they're really inexpensive and you don't have to build them yourself......"Neo" starts them off at 2 bucks too......if people didn't jack up the prices by bidding 3 days before the auction ended they'd probably go for like 50 bucks.....morons..... ...... |
