Looking at the difficulty settings as I play for the first time, seeing "Standard," thinking "oh...this must be where people start and then they move on to heavy..."
That's when my ears decided they liked the sound of Waka Laka..........and, yeah...haven't done the Standard steps since (even though I can come pretty close to a full combo most days). |

Hehe. I had the same problem with the 'LoM' thing... I also didn't know about the mod screen, stood in the ...*goes on and on* At the moment it seems like I think I don't need to read the arrows to play the game... *facepalm* _________________

"Wait, wait, wait...you mean the arrows go with the music?!?!"
(I didn't say that, but I know a disturbing number of people who have.) _________________

My newbie actions weren't really mistakes as much as they were little annoyances. I used to pick Dancing Pompokolin, Dancing All Alone, and Swing It every time I went up.
And something I hear from a lot of n00bs is "Why aren't I getting tickets for this game?!" _________________

noobie mistakes? Me? noo Ok well i used to step back in the middle, and i was one of those who stomped like hell if i missed an arrow or it didnt register....but that ended shortly after the 5th time i played ddr hha. Ive heard other people ask some stupid things....like they look at the machine, theres a sign that says $1 and they ask me "How much is this game?" Also ive seen little kids run up when good players are up and almost get crushed because they are trying to do like max300 or something. And of course the stupid parents run in and pick up their kids acting like nothing happend..... _________________

Hmmm...I got a few good ones for you guys. I was a pretty stupid n00b.
I used to stand in the middle of the pad and only use ONE FOOT to hit EVERY ARROW! WTF was I thinking!
*seeing someone pull up the mod screen* "OMG WTF is that!?"
Thought that playing Afronova on light was a good way to show off for the crowds
Oh, and thought that listening to Pink Dinosaur all the time in my car was cool.....ok, so maybe I still do that....from time to time _________________

when i was in italy and first time saw DDR Arcade
one italian was awesome - i was watching him and saw thet he never come back to the middle of the stage.
then one girl from the crowd came on the arcade to play with him (she was 20-25 with very long skirt and high shoes - normaly i though that she cant pass even begginer song).
they played paranoia maniac - guy AAA it she A it.
so i thought that IT MUST be EASY "Christian dont back to the middle of the mate and it would be all just fine" - but gues what IT WASNT
i have turned paranoia maniac - crowd was watching, hmmm 3 maybe 5 seconds of "dancing" head in the lengs , run! only 2 korean guys left, laught and started to play
then i have loved DDR |
Mmmmm..... Did anyone else catch this story at all? _________________

Nope, not me.
On Topic: First time I played I was the person when the arrows first appear, hit them as quick as possible. I thought that when they get to the top, you miss them or something. I've also had little kids stand on the mat while I'm playing. Some kid kept trying to hit the down arrow for me. I would have told him to get off, but he looked like a 5 year old mexican, so i didn't think he understood English. He moved when i stomped on his foot. _________________

Uh, yeah, I did. It's something called babelfish, and it sucks nuts. Either that or very bad english, I'm just so used to it. _________________

Uh...I think he's saying he was in Italy, and saw people playing PARANOiA, and uh...they did good, so he thought it would be easy, and...the crowd was watching, so...Christian threw a brick at the screen because only two Korean guys were left and...they all ate beer and drank babies and went home. The End. *Bricked* _________________
