heh... i missed tryouts for cross country this year frown.gif but yes DDR really does help you with stamina, and the fast songs such as Max Unlimited and Paranoia definatly help you with your sprinting

timmy- if YOU made the run but your friend didn't. the coach should be jumping on your friend for not using discretion and knowing his own limits. And not using common sense...And you friend is a cry-baby...don't let him play on your DDR anymore E13.gif He's probably using it as a scapegoat for his crappy ability.

I ran for four years, ended up with a 4:47 mile, and still can't pass PSM. It doesn't hurt, but some people just don't have the muscle mass for certain songs, no matter what they do.

Um. Do the triple jump. It helps your freestyle.

Or, just maybe, the EXTENSIVE TRAINING required for track is what helps you pass the faster songs on the side. =o

I actually plan on trying out for track this year, but I really dont play ddr anymore. I play basketball sometimes, work out at the gym, and go swimming. Is that good training for track? I run about 7-8 minutes on the treadmill at a decent speed for about 3/4 of a mile. I wanna be really good in track, any other pointers?

You might wanna mention which event you plan to try for.

For me track and DDR were not at the same time.... I did hurdles in track...But DDR WAS at the same time as when I did irish dance, and it did help strengthen my legs a bit in a certain jump that involved alot of which is similar to the way you go over a hurdle. *shrug* But depends on the person really. Now I'd be scared as hell to jump a hurdle o_O

hooray for me running a 5:20 mile with no practice!
as far as DDR goes, AA every song save PSMO and LOM so i'd say i'm pretty distinguished there.

but let me say.

i don't there is any relation between track and ddr besides the fact that you use your legs.

oh yeah, a lot of you seem to have XC too. XC kicks ass

Run longer on the treadmill, hehe. Well, actually I guess it depends on your pace. If you're going slow, up that time. Don't overexert yourself, but try to get to 20 for starters.

Distances outdoors are good (3-5 mile/25-40 minute jogs)...and yes, XC kicks ass. =)

If you wanna train for the mile, do 400s for time (one lappers). If you wanna train for short distance, do wind sprints/striders, build muscle. And by all means, maintain a usually healthy diet (my coach drank margueritas all the time, but it doesn't hurt to be healthy). Fuck sodas, btw. goog.gif

There're probably a ton of sources online to look up training tips and such, rather than asking DDR players who happen to do XC. Leave these boards if you want the right info. =p

Hey this is DDRtimmyDDR's teammate here. Yes on tuesday I did have some problems running but I did make the run was just really tired and fell behind a little. Well anyway I run in the low 17's and high 16's and its easy for me to go 4+ hours straight on it but i suffer the next day frown.gif . But when i get used to it and stop doing it that long im sure it wont effect me very much running wise. Well just had to correct my forgetful teammate and put in my 2 cents E1.gif

OH yea.... if you plan to be a distance runner don't rely on the treadmill...I can NOT run a full mile on the track, but I can do like 5 on the treadmill. Treadmill=WAY easier than out on the track or trail.

I ran track in high school, and DDRed. I didn't do much DDR during track season, though. I was a sprinter. I still don't have much stamina for DDR, but I noticed after the last year of sprinting, I was doing better at ten footers, and things like the steps near the end of Paranoia Survivor, because my legs were moving faster.

Why, no worries, Timmy! There's always "intelligence drugs" you can turn to!

(oh yeah, drink more water than you think you can handle when working out--it's good)
