Oh great. My PS2 is 30001, U2, date code 1A. How do I tell if it's model 3 or 4? (I want to get the fliptop lid.)

So I guess it is safe to say that psx-tech.com is a reliable place to have your PS2 Modded? If you had him mod your ps2 could please tell me how well the job was?

hey Uiru, if you want to know which one to get i recommend that you go to PS2covers.com, they have good info on the flip-top! as for which version look under your system and check the black tabs (squares) if you have 8 ibelieve you get version 1, if 10 get version 2. for sure check out PS2covers.com for the correct info. hope this helps. |

I know that Extreme and MAX2 work with the Flip Top Mod, but do any other Bemani games work with it as well??

Does the Flip Top cover have any disadvantages? I know that you need a gameshark to play PSone backups, but that's not that big of a deal for me. Anything else? _________________

If your only gonna play DDR I don't see any reason to wait for 3.. and if your big into imports you should just get a chip.
BTW, I love my flip-top. No problems for me. |

Alright, since I plan on buying Extreme sometime in the next week, I need a way to play it. I was taking apart my PS2 while looking at the fliptop instructions, and tried to think what exactly it did special that made the lid work, and I came to nothing.
So, I got to the point in which you take that white circle object and thought, "What if I just put in the import here?", since I would have been doing the exact same thing if I had used the fliptop. I tried putting in my games, and they worked fine.
I'm pretty sure it would work, but could someone here, with the Swap-Magic disks, try it? I see no reason why it wouldn't if I had the discs. _________________

I have no issues with the flip-top and any of my IIDX originals (3rd, 5th, 6th Style) or any of the Pop'n Music PS2 games. _________________

You guys have convinced me: modding=suck.
So, I guess I'll just import a system. The guaranteed way to play my import originals. I was interested in the Asian PS2 for sale here on play-asia:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-o-70-6l-4-7.html
But, I was curious as to how the power conversion worked. Can I just use my US power plug or do I need a convertor?
I ask becuase the Asian version is 85 dollars cheaper than the Japanese one, which will cover the cost of Extreme. |

Any suggestions of who to get it from? (or more importantly, who NOT to)
Reliability is key, and price a close second. I don't want to buy from someplace as crappy as buyrite (although I'm pretty sure they're about as bad as they get) |
I recommend PS2case.com. Back when I ordered, they said they upgrade every 10th order to overnight shipping for free, and, well, I opted for "free ground shipping" and ended up with free overnight _________________
