I bought my pads from ddrnation.com, and they work awesome. I have had them for over 6 months now with no problems. They don't even require any mod work, the slippage is minimal on carpet. |

|
|
I have finally found it! After hours and hours, months and months, of asking around, searching the web, reading reviews, and traveling to stores and parties, I have found the absolute, super-best, super-affordable, super-durable soft pad!!(in that order, too) I was surprised, yet not, to discover that the BNS DX Xtreme pads are the best budget soft pads on the market. The best interview I read said:
"...these pads are totally the poo...I've had mine for 9 months on 7step and harder songs, and they're still in perfec condition...They're not as sensitive as the ones at the arcade(and which one is anyway?)...but the fact that I could compare them to arcade pads has totally got me on a headtrip!"
You can find a great deal on these pads at buynshop.com, there is a bundle that I'm getting which includes two of their best pads for $83. Even though RedOctanes are the best, like I said above, these are budget; which is exactly what I'm looking for!
Until next time , keep on dancin! |

I'm going to pre-order the DDR Ultramix bundle for XBOX and I have one major question reguarding soft pads. I don't want to deal with carpet and pad slippage (even though I hear the new Konami pads are really great at staying in one spot), so I'm moving my T.V. into my basement where I can set my pad up on cement- I'm planning on taping my pad down to the cement so I don't have to have any concerns about pad movment. Now here is my question: If I have my pad taped down to cement, and this is a soft pad, is it a good idea to play in shoes? If I'm going to be playing on cement, it would be kinda nice to play in shoes, but I'm conerned about ruining my pad. What should I do, just suck it up and play in my socks or go for playing in shoes? |

Holy crap, I figured I'd try a seller I hadn't seen before on eBay (gamewholesaler) for some softpads, which appeared to be Ignition 2.0's... I was the only one to bid on the 2 of them, and won the auction for $24.99. Got them today, and they were Mymybox 2.5's, which go for $95 each on their own site! These things rock... _________________

Ok, this thread's way to long to read, so I'm just throwing this in. I'm probably the first to really complain about the soft pad that comes in the MAX2 bundle pack. My complaint deals with the down arrow. The sensor and everything reads fine... by itself. For some reason if any other arrow or button is depressed on the pad, the down arrow will not read. This goes for either two foot steps, or just standing on another button at the time. I don't have my receipt anymore, but I've only had the pad less than two weeks. Hopefully I can talk to the same guy at EBX that sold me it and get it replaced under their warranty. _________________

I'm thinking about buying DDR MAX 2 this weekend... it comes with an official Konami soft pad... is it a good idea to buy the game with this pad or seek out another pad...
costs $60
Could buy the game seperate for $39 and buy a pad for $20.. should I get some other soft pad? Or just get the Konami one? |

go to my thread [http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=75261] it has la link to my website which so the perfect mod for you problem. it basically makes it so there are 2 pieces of wood and one is cut out to fit the arrows and the control box. this makes it so you can feel if you hit the pad or not.
PM me if you have any ?'s or problems
EDIT: of yah, with my mod there is not slippage [of the pad scrumbling up and the whole mod doesnt move] _________________

for anyone considering the konami pad that comes with the game. I would reccomend it but only on carpeted floors. Without the cushioning, the experience may be very painful. (Imangine max300 heavy without any shoes) Even though i haven't actually had experience on a carpet floor using this pad it would make sense that it would be better on a soft floor rather then a hard surface. If you dont have carpeting, like me, what i did is put my pad on top of an old igniton pad thats busted and it works fine. _________________

ANWAY!!!!! Back to my original question- do you think it's a good idea to play in shoes on a soft pad? I dont really like to play in socks because of the slippage that goes on on the mat (not the mat moving around on the floor). What do you think? Anyway to prevent the pad from getting ruined from playing in shoes? _________________

Based on my experiences and those of friends, soft pads + shoes = singnificantly shorter pad life. These new Konami pads may be able to take the abuse since the material on the top is different and more durable. _________________

my site is at http://www.angelfire.com/film/njohnson/tt1softpadmod/index.htm
it has:
~no slipping [the pad scrumbling up]
~no slipping, as in the whole thing wont move
~good support
~soft sounded
~extends soft pad's life to 5+ [well, mine has!]
~has lil indents under arrows to help you see if you are hitting the arrow
~and if you want a trick bar.
so dont be , be _________________

The Konami softpads are good then... but I can't do any hand stands or anything on it because that would be simulating the weight of a shoe.... dang... still getting a soft pad... lol (I'm cheap) any pads you'd suggest as a 2P pad because they don't sell Konami pads seperate from the game... |

You can get the Konami pads alone. They're $30. Just not everywhere carries them. _________________
