I like to have a balance between enjoying myself and getting a decent score. |

Kind of a silly question.... I take it seriously in that I try my best on every song, but I don't get particularly upset if I don't get a AA or AAA. I mean, I'm trying to get a AAA on every song; why would one try to get anything but a perfect on any given arrow? But I'm not yet at the skill level to do so. I only have two catas AA'ed and no AAA's, but who can honestly say that when they step on an arrow they aren't trying to get a perfect?

DDR is important, but it's no way of life...
You should only be mad at yourself for failing the same song song twice.

my answer is yes, I am a PA player, therefore I play to get Perfects as much as possible, of course I wasn't always a PA player, I was once just a regular 'ol "if I can pass it then I'm happy" sort of player. |

Considering DDR is one of my forms of exercise (and a lot more fun than running a treadmill, I might add), I take it seriously enough to continue to perform the workout on a consistent basis. I would never go to a gym to work out, and my DDR stuff gets used a lot more than the Nordic Track or rowing machine that are sitting in the garage - and that stuff is taking up valuable garage space.
Yes there are a lot of flaws in my overall performance compared to the bottom line score that many of you are so enthralled by. There's no point in me playing for score; it's an irrelevant number to me except for bragging rights, which aren't important to me _________________

Depends on your meaning of "serious".
To the casual observer, they probably think I eat, sleep, and breathe DDR. Let's see... I have my memory card attached to my keyring (but that's mainly because I lost my first one), I write down my scores whenever I beat a personal best, I play DDR almost exclusively at the arcade (with the occasional DMX session if there's a long wait), and I've been called the "DDR is life" person there.
But I really just play for fun and exercise. Sure, I try to get AAs (and the occasional AAA - OK, one AAA) and SDGs and whatnot, but that's just out of a desire to get better that is logical in any endeavor. I've gone to a few tournaments, but never really expected to do well in any of them.
So... no, not really. _________________

With the type of personality I have I can't risk taking it seriously. I'm a pretty serious person and luckily somehow I am able to just take DDR as "fun & exercise" If I took it seriously I'd probably feel pretty blah all the time as I can only do like half of the standard stuff. I don't ever plan on trying to get good enough to do anything more than play for fun. Competition stresses me out too much. |

Mmmmm.....Yeah, I'm one of thoes people. I have a foul mouth I cuss a bit when I fail or don't do to my potential, just because I get mad at myself I don't think theres anything wrong with that, so get over it Oh, at least I don't brag how I'm the 2nd best girl DDRer in ALL OF COLORADO!
As to taking DDR seriously: I used to be real seriously into it. Unless I am competing, trying for a best score, or beat my boy then I just play for fun. Usually goofing off and freestyling

Well, I get frustrated when I do crappy, but the frustration lasts about 5 sec.s and it turns into a joke..
For some reason I just couldn't pass Max300 yesterday, and I am able to make an A usually. On the other hand I was able to AA R & P/Tears and got close to SDG'ing Sana. :>
I think it's really dumb when people say "you don't have fun if you keep scores!@#" ..I mean... just because you try at something doesn't mean it's not fun and you take it all serious.
So my answer would have to be no, I do not take it seriously.

DDR, I do take it somewhat seriously. I'm not classified into any group or cliche of players, at least I don't think so. The game is sort of an addiction for me, as it is also my primary excersize, plus, it gives my weekends meaning. Almost every weekend is spent DDRing, whether at home or in the arcades, trying to improve is a constant, and I just love it!
I am very fond of the music in the game. Some songs took on more symbolic meanings to me, while others are just fun to listen to. Some find a place in my mind and stay there (The Paranoias, Absolute, Drop Out, bag, Max 300, End of the Century, Orion. 78 Am-euro, V (for Extreme), and B4U, to name some.) I find myself regularly tapping rhythms of various songs with my fingers and feet. It's also given me a better understand of the beat in any song I hear.
It got me to this wonderful community. ...yeah, I do take DDR seriously. _________________
