I must be missing something.

If all you need to do is swap disks, why can't you just use the regular PS2 drawer? Is there a reason why the cover needs to be off?

The PS2 checks the disk every time the eject button is pressed.

"Product not found!"

But with the price of the system, premodded, it just seems cheaper, and easier to just buy a Japanese PS2.

I just ordered Extreme JP... I feel really proud of myself. I thought that after aquiring two Cobalt Flux pads, I wouldn't be able to become any more of a ravenous DDR fanboy. I'm proving myself wrong as we speak. :) My planned attack method is fliptop lid; I trust that somebody will post information regarding compatibility with the 2.0 boot discs asap? I want to order one of them now but I don't want to blow cash on a disc that I won't even use.

ps. Canadian consumers, yesasia.com has the best price- $80.something CDN, after shipping (actually, there is no shipping) in two weeks. The next cheapest one was $74 USD. If you want it faster, you might have to check out the other ones for Extreme speeds (yay for bad puns) but if you're willing to drop piles of cash on shipping you probably don't care who has the best price. Heh.

I was in the same boat as you are in E19.gif but after talking to a couple of guys... they said wait it out till the game comes out to find out...
i guess the swap method doesn't work on DVD9 games but DDR Max 1 and 2 work perfectly fine. So i guess stick to a MAx intill it is known if extreme will work? disgust.gif

Hey Uiru, you've got 2 Cobalt Flux pads??? and you're going to use a flip top??? spend a little more money and get your system modded or get a Japanese PS2 (if you're serious about importing).

well...im convinced its time to mod my ps2 and start importing. DDR Extreme JP is the last straw. yeah i like my US exclusives, but man o man..extreme has a godly songlist and ONI MODE *drool*.

so anyways...looking at the different ways to mod my ps2, i think i'll get the magic 3.1 chip, but i got a couple questions.

first off, extreme will be THE FIRST game i import (a ps2 game) but im also thinkin i'd like to import a couple of the other mixes (namely 4th/5th/extra) from ps1 as well. if i get a magic 3.1, will that allow me to play ps1 imports on my ps2 as well?

and second, im not going to install it myself. so what do you guys reccomend for installation? what kind of fee's would i be lookin at? what are the best places to go? (i know there's a few places listed on the first page, but a couple sound kinda iffy and i sent a pm to that cmcm guy)

im an importing n00b so uh, help educate me E13.gif

I was looking at getting the DMS3 V2.0 modchip and was wondering if anyone else has this one and how difficult it is to install and how reliable it is as well. Thanks

On that website I posted you can get Messiah V2.0 pre-modded systems and a DMS3 V2.0 pre-modded system. If want to look at them go to the website I posted then go to the top of the page then on the left it should say PS2 pre-modded systems. They got a few pre-modded systems.

I am also interested in news regarding compatibility with Swap Magic 2.0.

The sooner I get my fliptop installed, the sooner I can start planning the biggest DDR party to ever rock the Rock.

I dont even have the game and can tell you its not dvd 9. That would be a waste of money seeing as how all the other DDR games only take up about 20% of the space on a regular DVD.

It'd be a waste of space and money in production costs, but the only reason I see to make DDREX DVD9 would be for copy protection. Put on the actual game then load up a few gigabytes of dummy data so part of it goes on the 2nd layer. I don't know how hard it is to rip PS2 DVDs, but I'd imagine it'd make things a little more difficult that way. That said, even then I'm sure people could find a way to trim the dummy data and copy the game.

That's not a very effective copy protection measure. It'd make much more sense to just find a way to detect modded PS2s and then stop the disk boot when a mod is found. I really doubt this sucker's DVD9.

But since I'm paranoid, I'm holding off on ordering this game until I hear that it DOES work with flip-top/Swap Magic. And once I hear that it does, I'm immediately placing my order. =D
