Hey all, I'm not really new to the DDR community, but am new to the Freak Boards. I read thru ALL 25 pages of this discussion, trying to get the best insights on a metal pad from everyone. So far Im torn between the CF and the RO. I don't really want to pay $100 more than something that is almost the same than the other. They're both shiny and sleek and response time is awesome on both. Damn, what to do, what to get........ I've had numerous strikes on pads purchased in the past and right now im surviving on my latest RO Ignition 2.0 which is drivin' me freakin' nuts. I've been wanting to get the CF for a while but the price isn't cuttin' it. Meanwhile I've been looking at all the others(MMB, BNS, CG etc.) and they all look like Ebay favorites.. But my decision is 90% complete with me going with the RO, WHENEVER they get some more in stock within the month. Can any of you guys give me any suggestions so I won't get shafted again?? I'd really appreciate it. Thanx for reading this and play on!! _________________

Sure pads may be a little costly, but if you make it yourself, you can cut the price down below 100! And some of the promblems stated can surely be modified if you built your own!!! _________________

I am new new new too. not the ddr community that is but if u were to order from RO, and they don't have any shipments..ur in for a LONG ride. I ordered a arcade sized pad and it NEVER came..it took about a few monthes then i e-mailed them asked just to change them to the stuff they had. Then it came about in a few weeks. If their out of stock..don't brother wait. I waited over 3 months!
CF sounds realli hot..does it have lights when u step on it? i wanna get the doubles too..it looks realli hot XP i just moved into a new house..and boy would it look like a home arcade ddr system if i set it up in the basement ho ho ho. XD _________________

Wow. Triple post. Is that some sort of record?
I wanted a CF real bad until I found out that it doesn't feel like the arcade. It is apparently completely flat, right?
Then, I was talking to someone that more or less randomly suggested some metal pads. Now, I have one that should be getting here on Thursday. I've heard from him and from someone else that they are the best metal pads (other than CF and RO) you can get and are nicely modable. Also, around $150-$160 (shipped) each. So, I am going to wait until I get mine and, if it rocks, I'll get another (quickly) and let you all know. |

Wahoo, post #1!
I just bought this metal pad:
http://www.ddrgame.com/psps2suarmep.html
Well technically I split it with a kid in the room next door, but same thing. I was wondering if it was the right purchase. $200 is expensive, but 70 pounds? Reinforced metal? Metal bar? It seemed like the right purchase for at the time, I hope I made the right decision. I hadn't seen this pad discussed, so I just wanted the details on it. Thanks alo. |

LOL, sorry about the Triple post, i was trying to get my preferences str8, but I was on the screwed up comp at work and it does that sort of thing. But anywayz, MadRhet, lemme know how that pad is, it looks pretty cool. And RO sez they'll be getting a new shipment in early to mid October so thank GOD I don't have to wait very long!! Also, how do everyone get those Avatars on your post profiles?? I've been searching for those and can't find any........hmmmm. _________________

Well, the pad's on its way so it's too late to find a better deal. Anyone had any experience with the pad? I hope it's at least worth the money. People from my dorm are going home every weekend, which makes for one very bored me. |

well, i can carry it myself and i'm short/small person. and the pad doesn't make noise when i step on it. its basically similar/same to the arcade except for color.
and right now i'm not in riverside, i'm in san jose so i can't take photos of it but i'd be glad to when i go back to riverside. _________________

Well, IMO, the CFs are not metal pads. while they are durable and i do like them, they're much more like a super responsive crazy soft pad mod (in a good way). im just posting this in here so people will acknowledge the fact that the CFs are not really a metal pad like most people would expect a metal pad to be. I was honestly half way diasappointed when i got them. I barely passed Afronova ReVenge becuase i slide through some of the beginning. I play with my shoes on and they grip to the pad making it nearly impossible to pull off a smooth slide. |

I've now had the opportunity to play on CFs, ROs a modded MMB and two kinds of home built pads (including my own homebuilt), from this experience, I've got to say that the homebuilts most accurately simulated the arcade experience. I'm tossing up this post to let people know that soon I'm going to be selling homebuilt pads using my design, which is a modified patsters (heavily modified except for the lighting circuit) and depending on features (lighting, multiple controllers etc.) the prices will range from $150 to $250.
I'll be adding a link to my webpage shortly that will include information on pricing and also will include a how-to for people who want to build their own using my design.
