Is it normal to break a pad in a few months?

I jus got my 1 inch think foam pad and i broke it in like only a few months is that right? cuz if it aint

With a foam pad, it's common for it to wear out within a couple months from excessive use. That's what motivated me to get a metal pad.

I got 2 used ones from Red Octane. I thought they'd both be real, but only one was. The other was fake and sucked from the first day (mainly because the foam insert was too big. But, cutting that only helped a little). The real one was great! Since only 1 really got played on at a time, that is the one that got all the use. I guess we've had them for about a year now. The real one was awsome until a few weeks ago when the down arrow started sticking every now and then, but that is the only problem with it, really. The fake one still gets almost no play because it's still pretty bad, so it's in fairly nice-looking shape. But, I'd guess that it would have worn out nice and quickly. (But, I only paid like $100ish for both, so I'm still rather happy)
So, if you have a fake one, I'd say that's pretty normal. If it's genuine Red Octane, then there must have been something wrong with it.
I, too, am moving onto metal. I should get my 1st next week (it's on its way), and if it's good, I'm sure I'll be getting a 2nd.

And metal pads last FOREVER, correct?

I just modded a cheap set, but I'm disappointed. The tight plastic cover causes the pad to be less sensitive, and it registers sometimes when my feet are in the middle or whatever, from the plastic tugging on the button part.

Depends on quality and usage. If it's cheap then you should expect it to last a month or less, two if you're lucky. If it's a good quality one then that should last you around 6 months or so. But like I said it's all about usage, quality, and how heavy you jump/step on it.

Metal Pads will practically last forever... However, certain components of the Metal Pads will have wear & tear to the point where repairs / replacements are needed.

If you make your own Metal Pad, you can fix it yourself as needed.

Well... I used to have an ignition pad... but then it got busted because one of my friends didn't know how to play and i stupidly let her play on it. she totally stomped the hell out of it. and so right now the right arrow doesn't work... it was a pretty good pad. it lasted for a really long time. but if you used the pad a lot like.. i guess playing it everyday for about 3-5 hrs a day is really wearing it out... soft pads don't really last that long.. but i have a really good one that have lasted me for about 3 years and surprisingly it still reads my arrows pretty well. well hope that helps...

I hope it's common... Because it happens to me with ever pad i get. I haven't really broken any, but they are pretty much boring since they dont sence very well and they are all ripped up.

Depending on the pads, like with soft pads your lucky if it lasts for more than a few months. Metal pads tend to be durable and last longer. But then you have wear and tear and you have to replace the wear and tear parts.

I have a soft pad and I play for 3-8 hrs while playing my shoes on and its still working. I had it for three months and nothing is broken.

I've had three ignition pads in the past year (bought two, won one. They pretty much die within months. The foam breaks easily. The one I got in July is already dead. I can't wait until I save up enough money to get a metal pad.

Hm... I'm guessing that it all depends on how you use the pads then... I mean I could remember the first time I got my home soft pad like 3 yrs ago (which is still working by the way) and I kept telling anyone who uses it to take light steps on them... I mean REALLY light steps. like tippy toes. so I guess maybe weight or it depends on how much you stomp on the pad makes a difference to how long the pad lasts.
