Just thought I would give a review on my Ignition 2.0 from RedOctane that I got today.

Holy crap.

My mad catz piece o' trash is now officially been demoted to door mat status. I like this pad better than some of the metal pads I have played on. The only advantage a metal pad has is that it gives you better reaction time when it comes to those quick 3+ arrow stomps. I play on carpet and I have had no problem with the pad slipping, even on heavy, granted I have only tried 7 and 8 footers on it. If you are looking for a good pad and dont want to spend an insane amout of money then this is the way to go. I also noticed that ebgames.com will be selling Red Octane pads starting in like 2 weeks. You can preorder them now.

Definetely get the BNS one. I have those pads and they rock. People say that they are as just as good as RO ignitions except they are half the price.

From what I've been able to gather, the BNS 'DX-Xtreme' is the way to go, but I'm wondering if:

a) How risky it is to buy one online and ..
b) If the pad included with DDR Max2 is sufficient for a starter pad until I can determine if I would end up playing enough to warrant spending more than $20 on a pad.

How many feet can you pass? The Konami Pad wouldn't be a good choice if you're good at DDR.

About Fry's-
They've got that Pelican wireless one, Konami pads, and 3 different mymyboxes-regular, special edition(loks like a solo pad, has green arrows instead of x and o), and premium padded, which is the same as the level six ignition 3.0(not 3.1, since the mymy doesnt have the really dense foam in a 3.1, its the same foam as in a 3.0).They also have mymbox hard plastic pads as well as the 2 mymybox mettal.I have a level 6 3.0 and a mymybox premium padded.THese things are like god to me, considering that I was using a topway pad before. They work well in doubles, and they rarely slip on my hardwood floors.I am able to pass a nonstop course going through the 8 oni step songs in ddrmax2 and could pass it with only 10 goods, which is an accompishment to me.

I am sooo totally lost as to what pad I need to get; one of you peeps has to help me( and if I sound desperste, I am)! I was going to get the Konami DDR Ignition 2.0 pads. Those don't seem half bad. But then I saw the 3.0 and I can't tell the difference. Kobalt pads are supposed to be the best out there. But last I heard, they were $300 each! Red Octane makes a good Ignition pad, but the Konami ones are supposed to be better. boom.gif I'm so confused! E-mail me at [email protected], or reply to this forum fast! Tell me your suggestions on homepads, hard or soft, and preferably less than $200 each. I'm freakin out man!

Don't get the second one!!! I would recommend getting the third one, it's a great pad. Nobody here seems to have the first one.

THe Redoctane Ignition,BNS Ultra DX, and mymybox ignitions are all the same. The cyphergaes one is kinda different i believe. The mymbox ignitons available and fry's electronics and outpost.com are the same as most 3.0s, except that the foam it has is not as good as the bns ultra insert thingies or the redoctane foam.

Only if they are good metal pads. The one with the round buttons sucks. Ask anyone about that pad. I wouldn't recommend that other metal pad because it seems just like their old metal pad which is the same as those cheap 3rd party metal pads that break very fast and eaisly. BNS claims that it is a new pad, but why do that have 3 different looking pictures of the pad, and why does one look like it is just a pic of the top of an arcade pad that was edited a little to look like it was a home pad? I e-mailed about their new pad and asked them why they have multiple pictures, which pic is the real one, and if they could put up another picture of the pad and they said: (this is a rephrase, I don't remeber the exact words) Yes, the pad that you are referring to, BNS v2.51 Metal Dance Revolution Hard Pad w/Poly Carbonated panels & PS/PS2 BOX, is the new metal dance pad. If you have any more questions feel free to contact us. I replied back to them making what my question was more clear and I haven't from them ever since.

Here. I'll ask this instead. For anyone who knows about pads at all and has a lot of experience, whether it be a bad purchase, or two years of maniac dancing, and in your personal opinion, which pad is the absolute best pad and is it also the best home play pad? Rank the pads in your knowledgeable opinion. As far as I know, Intec pads suck, Mad Catz really suck, and even the generic Konami imports aren't any good. I'm still kinda confused, but thanks for your replys yesterday. E19.gif

Well, to my luck, my BNS DX-Xtreme softpad was devilered to my house yesterday from FedEx, which i ordered off www.buynshop.com . I opened it up... ah, i love that new pad smell. The pad works perfect, and its way better than the madcatz and Naki DPR2 pads i used before. I like the idea of the raised arrows that tell you where you are on the pad without looking down. The hard insert helps also with cushioning your feet instead of dancing on a wicked hardwood floor, like i have. I even got a pree PSX-to-Printer port adaptor, so i can plug my pad into my computer and play StepMania, which owns.

i cant do heavy's yet either so this looks like a great mod to me. i might do that mod actually, when i buy my naki pad. but i have a suggestion for it. if your soft pad ever stops responding somewhere, try combining your mod with KickTheCan's mod. i think it would make the ultimate soft pad. and one more suggestion. maybe adding 1 more piece of acrylic to the X,O,square, and triangle will give it an even more arcade like feel with slightly sunken arrows. if you ever try it, tell me how it works.
