Pad problem, can anyone here diagnose?

Hey everyone,

Just bought the DDRMAX2 game/pad combo. The Konami pad that was bundled with the game has a weird error...the down arrow on the pad works fine during menus etc...and even during the start of a song the down arrow on the screen lights up when i hit it, but once the arrows start coming down, the arrow stops responding. Any ideas on how to fix this? (I tried my Naki pad, works fine, also disabled both controllers, and tried plugging it into the second controller slot.)

i dont know much, but does the controller down work when you are standing on other buttons? (in the places you said it normally works)
