Yeah, 1/2 the lights on my RedOctane soft pad have already gone after a month. But the thing does rock, despite the fact that I can't feel the buttons, and I have a tendancy to hold right and circle the the same time. Only problem is I bought it from Gamestop.com, so I don't think I can send it to RedOctane.

Got my pad today on Monday, simply having a pad that doesn't float across the room is welcome. Gonna put it through some good testing and fopefully bring a promising reveiw back. All plusses so far.

Ok I feel bad coming here without pictures, but oh well... Here goes.

First impressions- the pad is sexy. The lights are a little dissapointment- they are just a set of three little lights on two sides of the arrow- dosen't light the whole panel up. No big deal though, because I don't care about the lights. Just saying. The covering to the arrows and metal panels is very annyoing- it took two people about 5-10 min to remove.

First use- It's sensitive. Make no mistake however- the arrows are flush with the rest of the pad. This makes it a little hard to feel your way around the pad. It's not that big of a deal, though, because I personally can feel my way around because the arrows depress and the metal panels do not. They depress enough to let you know you are on an arrow- not so much that it causes timing issues.

One day later- I managed to bend a piece of the metal that seperates the left arrow with the up-left arrow, but I bent it back and it dosen't affect anything. I set it up in the lobby of my building and played for a while (albiet with just one other person) but I plan on setting it up every Tuesday and getting a little advertising going for this. Expect a update every Tuesday night!

Update: Since, Sept. 15, 2003

Still responsive as ever!
--Back panel lights stopped working.. No big deal...

--One complaint..
ON the metal panels.. near the screws, I have little nicks.. almost dents, but they are placed near the screws in each 4-corners,,
It doesn't bother me.. but does this happen to anyone else?

I ordered my RO pad on Wednesday, and I got an email confirming that it was shipped the same day... but I thought it was out of stock ?_?

The tracking order gives an estimate of 10/1/03 as the arrival date, is that correct, considering it is/was "out of stock"?

I'm confused, and anxious as all hell... I just got MAX2USA! happy.gif And I need to get this pad because my fake Ignition pad sucks, and I just now stabbed it repeatedly with my katana riiight.gif riiight.gif riiight.gif laugh.gif

Thanks for your help happy.gif

edit: spelling ><

Indeed it is not...

but NO ONE has answered my question. I've posted here, PMed WrathX, and even emailed RO, but I haven't gotten a damn answer anywhere. All I wanna know is if my pad actually shipped... E2.gif

Hehe, sorry Shinigami... I got your PM this weekend, but I was at home and had no means to check it for you (support is only open during the week). But you did get your answer though, and that's what counts! biggrin.gif

Glad to hear everyone's still enjoying their pad!

WrathX,

I was wonderin', since you're at RO HQ, can you tell me when RO is gettin' another shipment of Metal Pads? Some guy on the phone told me early to mid Oct. but I was hoping that you could possibly give me a date? Just thought I'd try and ask cuz, I'm very edgy on getting my 1st Metal Pad and I can't fork over another $100 for CF just yet. Thanx Wrath.

Alright, I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying this pad but when I bought mine last Christmas it arrived in a box that was totally crushed although the pad was in good shape (or so I thought), padding in the box consisted of a thin sheet of styrofoam. I plugged my pad into my PS2 and instantly it didn't work, I was furious, I e-mailed RO and asked if I could return it and they said yes but we had to wait for them to come pick it up then we had to wait until they recieved it to get our refund, and the worst part about it was they said that we wouldn't recieve the cost of shipping back! meaning we were out $50.00 some bucks! I have now decided to purchase a CF it should be arriving soon..
