|
|
The reason I ask this, cause I play it a few times when I hit the theatres to play Follow Me, BBBB, Flash In The Night, and Justify My Love. If I remember all I saw was a Groove Radar and that was it. To me, that make things harder for me to know if it's a cata or not a cata on Heavy Doubles. So I'm just wondering did it appear? My friend said it was beneath the screen and it was low you couldn't see it. _________________

Justify My Love was later rated as a cata on 7th mix.
As for the Groove Meter, you just have to attempt to read it. The more space it fills the harder the song (GENERALLY).
Most of the songs you can look at the charts for at Chartzar (www.sherlok.net/chartzar) and determine how hard it is. I don't really think it's necessary to know the foot rating.

And your friend has no clue what he is talking about. _________________

Thanks alot, I still wonder at this day why did Konami remove the foot ratings. It does help me to know if the song is hard and I can't do it because maybe it has tons of chaos/streams or whatever. It just helps cause I use it sometimes playing EX to figure if I can do it having the stamina and skill to do a song. Ex: Captain Jack/Cartoon Heroes on Doubles Hvy. Same thing with So Deep, though I can FC the whole part before the gallops it just helps to know how hard the song is via foot rating. _________________

its not like the foot ratings are all that accurate either. i mean, according to konami, witch doctor is an 8 while twilight zone is a 9..... couple other examples too, but like, what was konami smoking when they came up with some of these? anyway, i never judge a song by its foot rating OR its groove radar. i play it myself and judge how hard it is by its step pattern. _________________

I agree completely, And the biggest mistake they made (with the foot ratings) is Waka Laka _________________

Depending on your arcade and your location most arcades did just that, Didn't even bother with 6th mix (max) and just jumped over to Max 2, Our's did.
and now that i think of if even the import version of max didn't have the foot rating it was more of the "look at the groove radar" game. _________________

Here's one trick involving the Groove Radar. When choosing a difficulty level, hold down the Start button to get numeric values for the radar points. You'll notice they're all on a very different scale, though. For subsequent songs, you'll have to hold the start button while exiting the results screen to bring up the values again.
What versions does this work on? All I can think of are the JP and US versions of Max.

What are you talking about? Holding down the start button brings up the mod screen. _________________

The trick shows numeric values on the groove radar.
But yes, holding down the start button also brings you to the Mod screen.
I believe what he means is that when you choose your difficulty, keep holding down the start button and it'll show the numeric values. _________________

Right, that's the trick I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in Max 2, but what about Extreme?

Yeah, it's an amusing little novelty. And you can use the numbers to calculate the exact maximum score bonus for the song.
