First, this should be in DDR at Home.
Second, if it's not a Cobalt Flux, it's not a good pad (unless it's an official konami one).

The new one? I remember trying to play on the RO version 1 metal pad..that was horrible. I don't know what the new version is like, but it probably still has the metal things sticking up between each panel.

But the original RO metal pad wasn't made by RO at all, it was third-party and they were just selling it under their name.

I remember there was a BIG contraversy here over whether the BNS metal pad was any good. The guy bought it and said it worked great, he hasn't posted since though. Either way, the trend seems to always be "You get what you pay for". :/

So:

$300- Cobalt Flux
$200- RO Metal Pad
$140- BNS Metal Pad

Personally, I'd go all the way and get a CF, you just can't beat a 6 month warranty and the awesome customer service they give.

Whhhaaaoooo! Hold the horses. I'm "that guy" who owns the BNS.
I'm not going to get into a deep discussion here, because I'm only 1 point away from being banned so I can't afford to argue with anyone.

COBALT FLUX:
$300.00
6 month warranty
Polycarbonate panels
Big Sheet metal contacts
Wires housed outside the unit.

BNS:
$130.00
15 day warranty
Polycarbonate Panels
Big sheet metal contacts
Wires housed outside the unit.

The only difference is the price and warranty. If you think a 6 month warranty is really worth more than the pad itself, then buy a cobalt. If you don't, then buy a BNS. Its been almost a month now and mine is still working flawlessly.

It doesn't look like that. It's pretty much the same thing as a cobalt flux.

Could you take a picture of it and post it?

cryptoddrfweak seems very insistant that the BNS pad is just like a cobalflux, and as I haven't actually examined one of the new BNS pads I really can't argue, but from what I've heard from people who've used the newer pads, they've had issues within the first week of using them, such as the arrow panels bending and triggering constantly, and ghosting.

Then again, the BNS and CF pads don't have lights, so too bad if you like them.

Company's are trying to make pads that are like CF, but without the same materials, it's pointless. CF has made a good name for itself and the quality of the pads is worth paying for.

And I have also heard stories from a couple people who had problems with thier brand new Cobalts. No 2 pads are identical and no pad manufacturer can claim "flawless" dance pads
And what do you mean about the lights? Like the pad is completely useless because the arrows don't light? give me a break.

Soypancho needs to read this thread. His BNS had a glitched right arrow right on arrival, but he's using it still now, so it must at least work alright. From what I heard, Cobalt Flux and Red Octane are great pads, though the CF feels more solid than the RO. Still, I gave that Red Octane a beating and it didn't even flinch, so it depends on how much you trust CF.

Since the guy who started the thread is done, and I don't want this to degenerate into another Crypto vs. The World session...

Locked.
