I never said LP was suited for DDR, I just said to stop dissing a perfectly good band. If you dont like it, then dont listen to it, dumbass _________________

Linkin Park is horrible. Listen to some real music, then maybe I'll care about what you have to say. |

Instead of creating a DDR machine that can rip CDs and generate steps on the fly (and would cost much more), it would be much easier to have commercial artists encode their CDs
with steps. That way, you don't have to worry about beats being slightly off, and can even dance the way the artists intended. |

That would be a cool idea. A while ago I was thinking of timing the bpm to a song. Then I'd just mute the ddr game and play that song over another song with the closest bpm. But it would be alot easier if the machine would just do that for you, like you said. |

That's very similar to an idea I had. User append CDs. Konami could release CDs with a dozen or so songs, and have a front slot loading CD ROM drive on the cabinet. I think you can figure out the rest. ;-)

Even better idea!
Songs take up lots of space on CDs, but step files take up very little.
In addition to releasing CDs with new songs and steps, Konami could also put out CDs with step files for songs already on the machine. You could easily fit over a thousand different step files on a CD that way.

Ha! That'll take years... just imagine what the line would be like. I would be more than glad for DDR's popularity to increase, but it shouldn't be done in a way where EVERYONE is supposed to like it.
I still enjoy the sight of people who get sick of it because they can't do it themselves.
And the amazed look of people seeing others play that cannot play it altogether because they physically can't, you know, when they ask you afterwards, "How do you do that?"
Just imagine if we did have that idea: people would be dancing to polka or something, or everyone would do C-Walks on "In Da Club", or who knows what on Linkin Park or Michelle Branch (not that I'm deprecating people who like such artists).
All I'm saying is that DDR is a unique game with unique songs and that we should keep it that way. The CD thing is farfetched, in my opinion, and too blown into proportion... |

Chances are, if you made a DDR (or music game in general) that could play CDs, you'd get those music artists associations mad because it was a public demonstration of their music for mass audience and they aren't making extra pennies... LOL ... and they'd want to sue the company that made it, kinda like music sharing. It's like showing a DVD in public, it has that 'for home use only' trash. OK, so that's far fetched, but it could happen (look at the world we live in). Good idea though. _________________

You mean like Mike (programmer for Stepmania) has? His machine has Stepmania in it. _________________

Okay, okay. It's not likely this will happen within the next ten years, at least. But until then, we've all got StepMania.
Three cheers to the Mac OS X port of StepMania!
