1) Are all the buttons the same size as the arcade?
2) Are all the buttons the same size as each other; on the pic on the ReOctane website, the solo buttons look like different sizes.
3) Does the pad feel like an arcade pad? |
judging by the pads dimensions, the arrows are the same size as the arcade. the solo arrows look to be a different size because they don't have the stripes on the panels. |

Well, I would like to either get a pair of the Cobalt Flux or Red Octane platforms, and I am hoping someone will be able to suggest one over the other.
Also, does either of them them have square and triangle buttons? And I read that the Red Octane platform has a level surface. Is the Cobalt Flux the same way? Is it hard to tell if you are stepping on an arrow on either of them? Are they indeed anywhere close to the arcade?
Thanks. |

Has anyone had any experience with this metal pad? I'm sorry if it's already been reviewed on this thread, I'm on a 56k with AOL and don't have the patience to go back through all these to see. With shipping it only costs $40 more than the homebuilt metal pads, has the X and O (diagon) buttons, seperate start/select box, and requires no assembly. Sounds like it might be a little flaky...

Let me know

Whatever you do, don't ever, EVER buy the pads from Lik-Sang.com. They are of iffy quality, unknown origin, and most of all, will cost you half of your own buttocks to get them shipped from Hong Kong to the States. Total cost for the pad was $201.87 including shipping. I don't relish paying more than the pad's worth to have it shipped. Also, I got the pad DOA, and it will most likely arrive DOA for you, too, considering how little padding there was in the packaging box. The orders are shipped via UPS express airmail, and because they're not even marked fragile, they usually get manhandled in the shipping process. I'm gonna just break down and get a CobaltFlux pad, because regardless of what you may think, with pads, you get what you pay for. |

Ps2Freak when are you gonna post on how to build the backbar for your mod I'm going to take a trip to Home depot soon and I just want to get everything I need in one shot to mod my CG metal pad. Its weird I got the CG pad and it works fine (besides the arrows cracking after a month) I had water Dripping on it for 2 weeks straight and its still good A cheap way to fix a cracked arrow if you ghetto is to replace the cracked arrow with the X or the O arrow. They fit in nicely and because you obviously don't use them to dance on they shouldn't have any cracks. This is what I did for 2 of my arrows. the Pad looks stupid but hey it works. |

|
|
Well I've only been playing DDR for around 2 months and I can only do LIGHT Mode, but I've been practicing everyday as I work near a machine.
I was very fortunant as to stumble upon a Heavy Metal DDR Pad (NOT Mat!) and hear those go for about $200.
Anyway, I hauled it up to my house and hooked it up to my computer's I/O Port, but I can't get my computer to recognize it
Is there certain software I can download that will recognize my DDR Pad?! |

After totally wearing out two cheap soft pads I got on eBay, I'm looking for new hard pads... while looking at lik-sang.com I came across these hard plastic pads:

Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they, as the description states, "the ultimate thingy?" |

Yeah, I want to know about the new metal BNS pad. I had a set of BNS soft pads that lasted me a while and gave me no trouble even under heavy, heavy use (like 2-3 hours a day) and I need a metal pad to replace my broken home built metal pad. _________________

DJ Fluffy,
That hard pad is crap. Do NOT buy that. It is made of plastic and the tiles that you step on depress down on a button to register. Problem is they depress too far so you really wont be able to play anything more than maybe an easy standard song. They tend to crack too. Just buy a metal pad for the extra money or mod another cheap mat. _________________

Hey all, 1st post here so please don't kill me.
I purchased a hard plastic pad like the one a few posts above about 3 years ago. It was good for about a week, till I started breaking the buttons. I simply duck taped the whole button assembly and it held up for 6 more months of sporadic use till the up button finally died.
I then purchased a "dance performance pad" This has the multi-color round buttons and the loudest clicking buttons ever. It still works to this day and I have yet to break it, but I rarely use it. It seems to me that I have a very hard time "feeling" the buttons like I could on the plastic or esp. my metal pad.
I also have a version 2 cg pad. I believe it is cg, it has the start and select built in to top of the pad, above the up. I have never modded it, as I just found this website last week. I have had the pad for 1 year or so and I finally broke a button the other day. The pad has been very durable and the 70+shipping I paid was very worth it. I am going to Home Depot tomorrow to buy some Lexan and fix my busted down arrow. The damage is strictly cosmetic, but I still want it to look good. I truly appreciate all the information here, it has been extremelly helpful and the level of patience I have seen with newcomers is amazing.
Thanks again, and if anyone gets a chance could you please tell me if I have a ver 1 or 2 pad (I am not totally sure). The details are: 3/4 inch tall, one solid metal bottom, black feet on the bottom, light up arrows on any button press, start and select are red small buttons above the up arrow on the "top side" of the pad. Thats all I can think of at the moment. Talk to all soon.

I kinda figured that from some of the hints in the product FAQ. I was mostly looking for an excuse to say "the ultimate thingy."
Thanks, though. Okay, so both hard pads at lik-sang are crap... guess I'll just keep on going through the cheapo soft pads until I can afford a good hard pad then. (Fortunately, I designed my pad platforms to make it relatively easy to replace the pad.) |
