At my local mall where DDR is played, it seems like everyone knows each other. Not suprisingly, many of the are very good. Probably been playing for at least one year. Ive been playing for about 3 months now, and when my friend and I talk to them, we usually ask the same questions, "How long you been playing?" "How often do you play?" just making acquaintences. This weeked however we asked some guy how long he'd been playing,...and like SPAZZED OUT and was upset. Talking like "WTF do you care?" " Do you think your better?" "Why does it matter to you?" It seemed like he was nervous... treating us like we were judging his playing ability Or comparing him to us. =/

PLUS!..When he was playing he was like..giving people orders....."Stay Back!", "Please be quiet while I'm on"... Being a complete moron, as if people would do as he says.

My friend I got on and passed all of our songs on Heavy (just 6-8 footers..and occasional 9 sometimes) This m0f0 did all standard..ONCE MAKING A D!(Daikenkai), and thinking he was just unbelievably good at the game. Everyone behind him is just thinking he was the biggest tard o_O.

I have never seen anyone act like that and it really pissed me off. Especially since i was just trying to make conversation at first, and had come to the point where i was just hoping he would fall on his face during Daikenkai due to all the jumps frust.gif..... E4.gif

Is anyone else like that on this board? Or do you know any people who are like that? I cant stand it when rude, concieted people make fools out of themselves.

I dont know if I would call that a rant, but i just had to say something about it. ;x

Sounds like that person has some personal issues and/or wasn't very good in social settings.
We used to have this one guy come into Southlake Mall and would try to pyche people out or have personal compeitions with people, always trying to get up against people and once the song was over he would say "I got a better score" or "I finally beat you from last time". I'm like, "dude, I wasn't even thinking about u!" He would get up on the pad and stare at people while they picked songs. And he smelled like smoke all the time and thought he was a ladies man, hittong on anything with legs in a skirt. Highly annoying and that was ONLY thing good that came from southlake closing. . . not seeing him anymore.
There haven't been many bad people where i come from, however, the worst problem is with kids and non-players. Yesterday a kid no older than like 2 kept stepping on the pad and looking up at me, smiling. I couldn't really be mad, but she was trying to hit the buttons! so I had to remove her from the pad. As far as assholes.

People can be stupid, learn to ignore them. if that doesen't work, learn how to destroy things using your mind. you can then think about him really hard. laugh.gif

Maybe this guy was just havin' a bad day.

Next time you see him or whatever, just say that he's really good (feeds his ego) then ask him his name. Works for me when I meet someone.
Then you can start with the interogations E4.gif

My arcade doesn't really have that problem, but occasionally someone will act like a moron and put a whole bunch of tokens up when there's a very large crowd (for iowa anyway) waiting to play. Well, there's always gonna be morons in the world. Alls you can do is smoke them when it's your turn. E4.gif

If I was like that, I wouldn't admit it! laugh.gif

I remember seeing one kid who thought he was hot stuff, and he was, but I didn't like the way he bragged about it. Another guy was even better, and he didn't brag at all. All he had to say to my compliments was "thanks" and didn't let them go to his head.

Let the "rude, conceited people" make fools of themselves. You see it, and everyone else will see it. No one will be impressed by Mr. Standard's demand that "everyone keep quiet so I can concentrate." sarc.gif

Also, some kids will blame every failure on something else (distractions, shoes, sickness, etc) but so what? It's not important. That's them, not you.

laugh.gif I feel like getting extremely pissed off at people who annoy me while I play sometimes... but I don't. And usually it just wears off after I am done.

Only thing I can't stand is when people try to have a conversation with you while you are obviously trying something hard (like an oni coarse, or obviously doing like single digits on a song). Or when you are playing, and its like, everyone has surrounded the pad to watch the screen (its like wtf, why do you care about what happens on the screen), or when it get's really bad and you can't even lean back on the bar for Paranoia survivor because someone is already leaning on it. When it gets that bad I just stop and ask everyone to back off, not mean or anything, just like asking them to please stand back a bit.

One guy was playing The Whistle Song, I think it was on Standard. For some reason, he had a large crowd, and at the end of the song, he yelled out, "You ain't seen nothin' yet!" Then he picked Nori Nori Nori on Heavy and failed.

These are the kinds of things that get me up in the morning: Obnoxious people being completely shot down.

This happened to me once. Some guy with these braids(I'm not sure if that's what they're called) that looked like they were glued onto his head. He acted like he was the greatest thing to ever grace a DDR machine. I think he played on heavy and he did a couple spins but he was in this wierd crouched position and he even missed a lot of the steps. When he was done with his final song he walked away from the machine towards the middle of the arcade making these grunts, trying to make it look like it was sooooo tiring and difficult disgust.gif (it was only his first set and the songs weren't that difficult). At first I was like "Whatever, at least it's my turn now". But then as me and my cousin were playing he told his friend: "Don't worry these guys suck, we'll show them when we get up there" . Those weren't his exact words, seeing as how he spoke in spanish but it's close enough. Anyways, that bothered me frust.gif . Luckily, that wasn't the arcade that I normally go to so I never have to see him again riiight.gif .

I was at SW and I just got in. I walked over to the machine and put my coin up, noticing none on the machine. So when the dude on the machine finished (I all for n00bs, but all he played was We Will Rock You and La Copa La vida, both on begginer. Pure earbleeding action!) Two goons got on. I asked if they put up a coin (I'm very very technical) and the pasty-faced fool looked at me like I was dumb, and said "It doesn't matter, I was here before you." Ok,I think,Charming, charming "I just think you should know what you should do-" I say. "I DON'T CARE. I was here before you!" I grin and stand back. He askes if I'm good, and say yes.

So what does he do. Challenge me? CHALLENGE ME?!? He actually thinks he's the biggest shit ever! I'm cracking up in my head. So I take the challenge. Guess what song he picks first. WWRY. I Play half the song not looking at the screen. I imprompteau the other half. I get an A. The eyes of the people behind my popped open so fast. Kinda like when the dude gets a C on Rebirth heavy in LD. I pick R3 next. Put it on 1.5 for me. The other player is just staring hopelessly at the screen. He doesn't understand the option screen. I also find out he doesn't understand the foot system, the groove radar, or anything else. I explain later. Anyway, I spin my way through R3. More bug eyes. I think I gain enough respect. So I go to Sakura at the end of his song. I tell him to wait, but he pushes the button anyway. This puts me in a quandry. Sakura at 450 scrolling?! No, we fail. Thanks uber-noob, next time LISTEN.

Have you ever noticed that a lot of the best players are the nicest? I think, in general, people are rude because they're inexperianced.

I know that anyone who is at this website is probably fine with playing around people, but did you ever think about how intimidating it must be for someone who has never played before to go up in front of a lot of experianced people? I wouldn't be surprised if they got nervous and defensive when you tried to talk to them... They are trying to hold on to SOME self image, because they haven't figured out that nobody cares if you're good or not, or that you're on a dancing machine.

I figure, just talk to them, and try and be nice. Offer help, but only if you can tell they won't get offended. I'm not saying they're justified in their rudeness... just, I think there's probably a reason for it. But if we all try and make friends, maybe we can keep some people from being rude E1.gif (although, I'll admit, others probably have no hope...)

I don't think that is too much of the case with NY. Especially last year. No one really cares anymore around here these days.

Ah...glory stories...The kid that thought he was the roxor because he could *beat* sexy planet oni and was bragging about how awesome he was...he then talked a bit of crap to me, so what did i do? I sdged sexy planet oni first song E4.gif . Everyone that I've ever played with that is better then I am has been extremely nice to me *shout out to the portland/eugene crew*, and I try to be the same way in my little valley, where i happen to be one of the better players. Being an ass will get nothing done but turn people away from the game, and that's not what you want, especially when trying to build a scene.
