My friend and I have been discussing this and I was wondering if it is even possible to play ddr for 24 hours straight. Even just playing beginner mode the whole time, would it still be possible to stand up 24 hours straight? And does anybody know if it's already been done? |

UN night in Orbit. go to arcade at 11 am, stay until 1 am. thats how far i could go. there should be this event where ppl should try to see if they could stay up for 24 hours while playing DDR. kinda like cram. _________________

Yes AmFm, that is what this is based on. But that guy didn't make it 24 hours, my friend and I are debating wether we should try to make the Guinness record. We are waiting for an email back, but we still don't know if it is possible.
We might be getting 5 minute breaks every hour (you know, to take care of the business). And when you say you've played for 5 hours straight (which i have played 6, but probably not straight straight), you are probably forgetting about the time your friend stopped by and played a game, or the time the little kids behind you asked for a turn, or the time you had to take a break for 15 minutes. I meen seriously, most people don't actually understand the meaning of STRAIGHT. Cuz this is basically going to be straight, just with enough room for bathroom breaks. |

Doin DDR for 24 hours STRAIGHT probably means NO bathroom breaks....but hey, try this on for size for all you long time DDRers out there: Do MAX300 on Standard or/and Healing Vison on Heavy for 2 HOURS STRAIGHT (i.e. - no bathroom breaks) and you can't get a grade below B. Try that for about a month THEN try doing all Standard and Heavy songs for 6 hours, but try to keep the grades all above Bs, then after training, go for the big 24. As for food, try drinking smoothies while dancing and take a quick bathroom break once every few hours or so.
Hey that would make a good contest - Who can survive the longest on DDR?!?!?!? _________________

rofl, there becomes a new form of ddr contest, the stamina division!
But actually, max 300 and healing vision for 2 hours straight and getting hire than a B really isn't draining. Maybe trying to AA both every time would, but I could probably get an A or higher on both of them for 2 hours straight before i started to tire. I really think there is no training for this type of thing. 24 hours.. i meen god (and they would have to allow you at least some bathroom breaks, because then it should be the record for not going to the bathroom the longest really). |

Sorry to break it to you guys, but the current world record for playing DDR the longest was set by Team Seattle, with 36 something hours. I believe 5 or 6 of them started, and by the end, only 2 were left. _________________

Thanks PMG.
Yeah, Me, Hinonaku, CrackerAddict, FoyBoy21, ShakespeareOne, and Princess D all went for the world record about a year and a half ago for "Most time spent on a Dancing Machine." We also raised about $10,000 for charity while we did it. XD
We had three machines, two video cameras and two witnesses per machine. We weren't allowed any more than a 5 minute break per hour that we played, and those could accumulate. We also weren't allowed to fail a song...
So, it ended up that Hinonaku and I ended up quitting at the 15 hour mark (shattering the previous record), PrincessD went for about 17 hours I think, and then Cracker, FoyBoy, and Shakespeare all ended up tieing at the 36 hour mark (when the arcade operator kicked them out).
I haven't heard about anyone so far beating that. _________________

Well we will be beating that then. My friend and I are dead serious about making the record, we just weren't sure who has done it and how far they made it, so we initially aimed for 24 hours. I think we might have to aim for 40 hours now.
Unlike you guys though we wont be raising 10,000 dollars (i dont see how the F you could do that, and that would be impossible in our small town). We probably wont have any video cameras on us, but that really shouldn't be for us to worry, that should be for the guinneess guys to worry about. |

hehe go for it, as long as the arcade ppl there are nice enough to let that arcade open for over 24 hours, home play won't count remember that.
Home = socks = unlimited stamina |

I read in my EGM that this guy was trying to get in the world records by playing it 24 hours. _________________

I know, and even if it did, I would not do it anyway because that's just lame. I want to be known as an arcade player.. not some homepad wannabe dude. My last question remains though.. is there a minimum to the difficulty level and how specific are they when it comes to dancing. Like do they expect you to have your whole body into it the whole time or is it just as long as you pass, no matter how you do it? |

I rad that in EGM too. I think that i could play for at least 10 hrs straight on Standard/Light mode (5-7 feet) i think eventually you'd be really relly tired, your knees would lock, you'd become unbalenced and so on. and what happens if you fail a song? is that it for your record attempt? i think if it was a tag team kind of thing, not only could you do it longer, but it would be much more intresting. _________________
