Hey, just popped over from the UK forum to say hi.
Premier 3 got a mixed reaction in London "Its too hard! I can't freestyle!" or "Where the hell is Caution!?!"
Personally I quite like it. Half Doubles rocks the house. The Spanish Hip-Hop tracks are nice.
But yeah, DDR owns Pump over here too popularity wise. I just wish people would give it a chance...
On the other hand its interesting to note that most seasoned DDR players went off DDR to PIU as it offers more of a challenge. _________________

I was referring to the recently announced Prex 3, not Premiere 3. Basically it looks like it's following in the other Prex's footsteps by just collecting the most recent songs form the Premiere series, and throwing in Extra songs too. I thought the song list looked cool, but then again I never played Prex 2. I thought most people didn't like Prex 2's songlist though... Oh well, anything beats Extra. |

Not to worry. Half Doubles will be in there. Here is a screen shot showing Half Double mode along with the 2 new modes.

Man that looks cool. I'm trying to decide what mix to upgrade our machine to.. Prex 2, Premiere 2, and this are now all in the running. |

I was playing Pump It Up at an arcade and they had the codes on how to make the arrows scroll faster, but I had no idea where to input these codes or how. I've heard you have to input them on the song selection screen, but when I try it always changes modes or something else. Can anyone help me thanks! |

If your using Premiere 2 the code is Up-Left 3 times, if your playing Premiere 3 the code is Up-Left, Up-Right, Up-Left, Up-Right, Center. If it's a version other than that I can't help you. |

Hello. I just got a Pump It Up DX machine and I need some help please.
It came with 7 discs, 2 2nd dance floor discs, 3rd Dance, Season Evolution, Collection (just plain 'collection'), Perfect Collection, and Extra.
Now, I put together the whole machine with the exception of the pads, and connected the front shelf, which contains all of the actual hardware and stuff, (that big front thing on all DX machines) to the screen, with a thick gray wire before screwing the two parts together and putting up the whole marquee and side lights and speakers. I put the Extra mix in the cd drive.
That's pretty much all the construction, and it all seems to be put together well according to the pictures in the instructions, which were in Korean.
However, when I boot up the machine (screen and shelf-machine parts boot up separately) the screen either stays blue, go's to a Bad Command or File Name black screen, like DOS, or I get a 'System Error Reading Drive C:, Abort, Retry, or Fail. It once made it 'past' that screen, and the lights aroud the speakers flashed once and then the machine froze up in this grid-like screen.
I think I've put it all together correctly. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what the problem is? Am I missing something? Some wiring I missed on the inside?
Or is the machine just broken?
Thanks in advance for any help. _________________

|
|
HI, I was going to go play Pump It Up tonight and would appreciate if someone could help me with speed codes. Someone was nice enough to write back with the codes, but I still wonder where and how I enter them. As I said before, when I am at the song selection screen, if I start entering codes, the modes start changing, and screen jumps around,,,,,is this what happens when you enter codes or is there another way or place to enter them? Thanks a bunch !!!!

Don't be thrown off if the modes start switching, that is normal. UL + UR +UL +UR +Center, UL x 3, depending on the mix, are the codes. You put them in during the song select menu, and you should here a "woosh" type noise when done correctly. |

Responses to Evil Boris and CoolKid
Boris:
If you only received discs, then I believe Extra requires a security chip since it is a non-domestic release. Unfortunately I don't have enough info on it. Maybe you can post a question on pumpxtreme.net, there are a few technical gurus there.
Cool:
Yes, you need to keep changing modes when you input the codes. Example, 2x speed: When you press left-right-left-right-center on the top arrows, you will be switching modes until you press the center button. Then you'll see the code icon appear. So don't worry about going from Easy to hard and back and forth. Just put the code in.

Geez, no new posts in 2 weeks?
Well, I guess it's official that Anda has removed 'It's My Party' from the Prex 3 release. That was the English version of 'Arrasando' by Thalia. No reasons given.
Also, due to mis-translations from Korean to SPanish to English, it seems that Nightmare mode is indeed the 'XX Doubles' from the Extra version. The translation was supposed to say 'there are more steps to miss in this hard mode' rather than 'the more steps you miss, the harder it gets'.
Lastly, and this might be just rumor, but the 'NEW' home version might just be an old outdated version of the Premiere with a dance pad packed in, no separate CD available for sale alone. Sounds like a crappy thing... |

|
|
I'll do a step by step comparison
Pump it up has better music. Pump it up actually contains REAL music and not techno versions of everything.
Pump it up is ridiculously difficult at hardest, there are songs which no one has ever gotten all perfects. DDR is easier people get all perfects on that easy MAX 300.
Now for all you people that think that MAX 300 is faster just because it's 300 bpm I will explain why there are songs on Pump it up that are much faster.
Please follow closely. In MAX 300 there are only 8th notes at the most so at most it goes twice as fast as 300 bpm which is 600 bpm. In (and I have a big selection on Pump it up) Csikos Post (which isn't close to the hardest song) which is 180 bpm there are 16th notes which means a maximum speed of 720 bpm. 720 > 600.
And this is not even recognizing that they have triple steps in that song even and 4 and 5 simultaneous steps in some songs.
The arrows are symmetrical on Pump it Up. On DDR Down is to the right of up.
On Pump it up you can actually listen to the music. On DDR they have that retarded announcer.
On Pump it up you can play double mode for the same price. On DDR double mode costs twice as much.
On Pump it up the pad's layout is much more conducive to break dancing. On DDR there is no break dancing.
Pump it up has songs from real musicians like Gun Mo Kim, Seo Taiji, Deux, Kim Hyun Jun, and more. DDR has sorry old songs with Techno beats.
On Pump it up it there is a wide variety of meter (the bpm). On DDR 90% of the songs are approximately 150 bpm.
On Pump it up the beats pause and actually have some semblance to the music. On DDR there are songs that are step after step beginning to end. There is no song like this on Pump it up. It actually follows the music.
Now I have actually played in a symphony orchestra and know more librettos of operas than anyone my age so please do not question my sense of music. Before Pump it up I listened to Classical music exclusively.
Now I am starting to play DDR because there are just WAY more people who play and I have no competition in Pump it up. |

I seriously haven't had such a good laugh in a long time!
Could you be any more biased, hey, I know, I'll do my version.
DDR has better music. DDR actually contains REAL music and not stupid k-pop bullshit that no-one can understand.
DDR is ridiculously difficult at hardest, there are songs which no one has ever gotten all perfects. Pump It Up is easier because you can miss 60+ arrows and still pass a song.
Pump it up has songs from real musicians like TaQ, DJ Taka, Tess, E-Rotic and more. Pump has dumb korean songs and shameless rip offs of classic music.
On DDR there is a wide variety of meter (slowest being 65, fastest being 333), on Pump the average is 130 BPM.
On DDR the steps go entirely to the music, on Pump they fill out the song with random crap, look at Unforgettable Memory, the stream at the beginning, what does that go to hmm. There is no song like this on DDR, it actually follows the music.
And don't even get me started on your other dumb ass points, wow, you've been in an opera, wow I can't question your sense of music can I, oh wait, opera music sucks big time. It's all about PERSONAL OPINION you prick.
Let's see, symmetrical 'shadow arrow' layout, wow, why don't you bitch about it having different coloured arrows as well.
Ooh, triples quads and quints, wow, does this sound like the '5 AROWZ IZ BETTAR THN 4' argument to anyone, oh dear. OLD.
Wow, doubles for 1 credit, some DDR machines are so cheap you can get 6 credits for the price of 1 pump credit in some places, it's all about where you go lamer.
And you can't breakdance, oh dear, was pump originally designed to be breakdanced upon? Thought not, shut up, you know nothing.
And everyone knows pump songs are faster than DDR ones, thing is, look at Winter division, well done, it's faster than Max 300, it's also. REALLY FUCKING OTT AND DUMB. And what was that you were saying about solid steps for an entire song, oh hi slam, hi winter.
In conclusion, you need to grow up, and stop being such a fanboy. _________________

You just made a big mistake dude, i cant believe how flamed your gonna get.
-DDR really just revolves around techno, and trance, you very rarely will see a song with more rock riffs put in it. (Beat of the War).
-The hardest song on DDR i think by vote is PSMO, which i agree is pretty tough but try Slam cz, Holiday cz+db, Can Can db, and get at least a B, then you can say that ddr is harder.
- DDR features songs from classics to (hence V), they all seem to have the same vocals, and K-Pop is actually more popular today than J-Pop believe it or not.
-I doesnt matter about meter, who gives a sh!t the songs are harder anyways at a slow BPM (Hayuga, Unforgettable Memory, Swing Baby)
-Alot of songs on DDR dont follow the song as well, where i could see steps when i listen to the song before i play it, are not usually there. Pump just does that to make it harder, and if you cant do it dont complain.
- And having 3, 4, 5, steps at a time are just there to make it harder, and its a nice change, specially when you come from ddr. When i first tried a crazy song i saw a 3 step and i thought it was alot more fun then.
Pump it Up is harder live with it queer boy.
So in conclusion you need to grow up and now be such a little bit ch.
Oh yeah that thing you said about freestyle
http://lilith.locaweb.com.br/video/iknow.asf
Can you do that on DDR thought so shadup.[/url] _________________

I have a bad habit of bashing DDR enthusiasts for bashing Pump for having stupid to zero reasons for hating the game. I also have a habit of praising Pump players for not being that way. Thank you, Katchei, for showing me that those players mearly tend to hide out in the shadows....only to surface from time to time to give more of the "equal praise players" a bad name. Do us a favor and stop with the overly bias talk. Well, that or return to the shadows from whence you came. Well, not only did your post clean up my mouth in regards to Pump/DDR player comparison, but it also reminded me to find some Seo Taiji music. Thanks for that much though
Oh, and to speak my peace, I prefer Pump to DDR. But my overall reasoning behind that is one simple thing...and thats pad design. I believe that the DDR pad was designed moreso for short people (which is easy to understand). Im a fairly tall guy myself (6'7") and found more comfort to playing on the Pump pad. But as far as music selection goes, I think that when you throw the ratio of good songs to crap songs together, the two games dont have much of a difference in song choice. You just have more crap to wade through in DDR to get to the good stuff. _________________
