|
|
I had a wierd dream one night about DDR. What if there was a massive RPG game that is based on DDR with all the DDR songs ever made plus many other mew songs that are new to DDR and Bemani. I dreamed that I was traveling a virtual and 3-d world talking to people and challenging people to many matches of DDR with new rules and options for every song. I could even equip myself with CD's for my portable CD/Mp3 player to laern new songs like La Senorita Virtual and Sakura. This could mainly be because of the fact that I fell asleep to Final Fantasy IX one night, I woke up the next morning with the playstation still on.
What if there was a world to travel in this game where you can laern songs but people out of the blue could walk up to you and challenge you to a dancing match, you will learn a new DDR song to add to your collection or a new CD for your player to add new somgs to the game until you either learn them all. They would be all scattered throughout the world with many sidequests and other things.
As for options there could be all the usual plus some new ones like sudden Death, Flip Out , and Blink. Oni bars would also be used. The bosses would not be your usual RPG boss but instead artists and characters from DDR like Naoki, TaQ, Legend Boy, Rage, Emi, Afro, Captain Jack, Be For U, and Paranoia who challenge you to a nonstop course with tougher challenges on each and different stipulations for each reigon of the continent. you can also go to a DDR Machine at each nightclub in Each town to play the actual Arcade game of DDR with all the songs unlocked from the quest. keep in mind all this would probably be done with a Dance Pad.
If this dream was to ever come true, I think it would be a jnew step for DDR, maybe on the wierd side, but you have to admit that DDR just doesent have the same awe inspiring appeal it once did when it first came out. I found Extreme to be just a re-hash of all the other songs from other bemani games and previous DDR titles. You have to admit this would be a new way to get people invovled into DDR and maybe respark that interest, since I still play extreme and I do l;ove playing sakura. This was just a weird dream I had one night that was probably made by leaving Final Fantasy IX on one night. RPG nerds like me would probably like it if it had depth to it. _________________

A D.Rev.Dex! Hahaha!
Seriously, That might me a good idea, like Yu-Gi-Oh!. the beggining would be, you finally get enough zenny (Money) to get the advanced Dancing machine. It could be based on Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Deul disk system. A circular thing that is attached to you'r wrist. You press the eject button as you'r opponent does the same. if they are in a close enogh radius from each other, they will line up, and they unfold to reveal a dancepad. the two things are looking at eachother, the up arrows point to the center. they scan each others hights, and a VR screen appears out of no where. it is the song/level selection screen. anyway, you play to you'r greatest extent. You play the other persons song, as you play one of you'r poonents chozen at random. The harder the song you are given, the better the player. You (The real you), before hand, attach a dance pad into the secong player slot, so there would be no bungling of cords. It would ne nessecary to play with a pad, so no attemp to cheat would be possible. If you win, You get a record off his/her D.Rev.Dex song chosen at random and added to you'r dance disk. You'r opponent losses it. If you lose, you lose a random song off you'r record, and is given to you'r opponent. he/she still accually has it, so you could win it back if it was rare. If both players have the same songs, a song is chosen completely by random. this includes rare songs. If it's a tie, Both players win that track. eventually, your record gets full, so you go to your house, and download it to your computer. now, not only can you listen to whatever songs you want, but If you imput 100 songs, you get a garunteed chance card delivered to you to enter a widley popular tournament. the game in the accuall game is immensely popular, so a LOT of people will ask for a deul.
Give it up for free time!
Perhaps edeted more in the future. _________________

That would be a great world. Only bad part, you have to travel the world to get new songs (sorta like pokemon ). Tonight, 8-22, i brought my pad down to the teen center. I get popular from it, but people like the seniors and the little 6/7th graders don't know my name. Oh well. I'm going to see if i can get free water next time. _________________

There have been three replies to this post. Three positive replies. The only criticism of this idea that has been offered thus far has been of the constructive variety. Frankly, I'm shocked and amazed that no one has posted a reply telling you this is a bad idea.
So I guess that duty falls to me. This is a really stupid idea. I mean, on a scale of 1 to 10 of stupidity, this is a definite 7. Possibly an 8 even. DDR is an arrow stomping game, nothing else. You stand on the stage and jump around for a few minutes, enjoy the music, break a sweat, etc. That's it. There's no storyline to draw from. The characters have nothing more than faces and names. In short, there's absolutely nothing here from which you could possibly draw material for even a semi decent RPG. If you want to see a similar argument, go drudge up one of the countless topics proposing a DDR anime.
I'll admit that I'd enjoy seeing a rhythm based minigame in an RPG, but anything more than that, no way. _________________

On your scale of 1 to 10, I give this idea a 10 (That means bad). RPG's need a story, granted some are horrible, but none sink to this level of stupidity. Walk around with CD's and challenge artists as bosses to courses? Retarded doesn't even begin to describe this concept.
I am just thankful there aren't enough of you who enjoy this kind of crap to create a demand for it. Seriously, if you think "DDR just doesent have the same awe inspiring appeal it once did when it first came out" then don't play it anymore. You stopped playing all the other games of yours that got old, right? Why is DDR any different? Just let it die instead of turning this obsession into something worse. |

Oof. Relax, guys. It's just a fan's wacky dream, not Konami's next release announcement.
But the idea sounds pretty funny, as a novelty, anyway. You'd gain levels and exp. when you beat the snot out of people, and you'd need a friend to use a Phoenix Down on you when you failed a song. _________________

Best idea ever.... Frankly, I think it would be rather amusing, if you put some serious thought into it, but you can't half ass it or like they say above me..it can and would suck _________________

Like I said, Thats what happens when you leave Final Fantasy IX on and falll asleep while taveling through Memoria trying to get to Kuja and Necron. Especially after playing for 10 hours striaght or more on a saturday. I even put my DDR game aside and focused on leveling up all the characters for those 10 hours or more. Plus all I think about is DDR, even though I am only a Trick/Standard player so somewhere when I dozed off I got 2 things mixed up in the world that most people call dreaming. If there is anyone who is an Adicct to DDR it's me, I will literally play til I cant move or til I am broke. _________________
