Its been almost a year since I've posted but this is important for me to find out.
genedefect- I plan on buying one of these pads in about a week and I wanted to know how responsive it is and how loud are the steps to you. I'm also wondering if it can support my weight. its about 245. any help you could give would be appriciated. On a different note its good to be back |

ok the pads sux.the pads are just a soft pad in a metal box.Look,if you dont belive me open the arrows up.The pad are that sesitive so you need to put more foil under each arrow and if you need help just IM me then the pads will be great but its not worth buying.if your planning to play on Stepmania you will need a good computer to run the pads. Its better if you use DWI on computer. Its better if you build ur own or just order off of ebay.Theres a new pad that came out and there selling it on Ebay for like 120$.It looks like the new redoctane pads but i think its better.

Elaborate please.
A soft pad in a metal box? How so? Does it have a simlar wiring system as the soft Ignition pads? If so, is that such a bad thing? Is it not sensitive enough?
From what I understand JDogg himself, along with many others, helped to make this pad, so I hope it is of good quality.
Please tell, because I am looking to buy a nice hard pad soon. _________________

In just the next couple of days, I'll be purchasing either Cobalt Flux pads or Red Octane pads. It sounds as though Cobalt Flux pads (the doubles kit; I only play doubles) are really solid. I don't have access to any woodworking or steelworking tools, so I'm thinking that CF is a better deal because I won't need to build wooden braces or other means of holding it in place, as some of you have done.
But I'm curious: how good are cobalt flux? Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about them. Does anyone have any opinions on the issue? |

Bob_Bee, I don't know what your referring to, but these pads are extremely responsive. Maybe you are thinking of the old My My Box like pad that RedOctane used to sell.
Also, your post almost screams advertisement, but I will leave it at that.
As for overall responsiveness, they seem extremely good to me. I figure it it can take DXY!, Exotic Ethnic, and MAX300 all on heavy, it is pretty good.
Over this past weekend I did a 6 hour and a 4 hour marathon on the pads. They are still holding up. I made a point to play songs like Deep In You, where for some reason I can't help but really slam my feet down hard on the pad. I also made it a point to kind of abuse the pad during my jumping this weekend. I figured if it is going to die, I might as well kill it now and get it back to Red Octane for refund or replace.
Well, it held up great. No noticable damage, still responsive, and running great. I do now have some scuff marks on the Arrow plastic (none visible from rubbing beneth) and the shiny metal isn't very shiny (couple of hand plants and my dog walking all over it a few times) but it is still working great.
I should be able to get some pictures up this week. Anyone recommend a place I can upload them to and link to? (no cost to me, and preferably no download limit since I know they will be getting views from here and a couple other places I post)
Thanks |

Scuff marks, not cracks
Yes they can be cleaned off, though on the metal they would almost need to be polished off for it to look right. |

Just go to the Cobalt Flux web site to see the customer satisfaction. Most everyone on there agrees the CF pads are awesome, and anyone with a complaint gets a reply in their thread personally from customer support and only has to send an email for a replacement. I'm still waiting for mine to come, I was alittle torn, but I figured that if I had the money I should go with the best. |

Okay... I'll try not to make a crappy review this time.
THE REDOCTANE METAL PAD REVIEW
Appearance: 10/10
Very nice and shiny. I can see myself in it. And the control box looks pretty cool to. Just look at my pictures.
Pad Sensitivity: 9/10
A light tap might not register, but then again, more people do apply some amount of pressure.
Durability.....
Well, when it comes to the material that is used... Scruffs and scratches show up easily. But it survived my brother's heavy friend who horribly struggled to pass era Heavy.
Okay... So I'm not good at reviews. |

I have a question; how does it feel compared to the arcade? I have played on many homemade pads whose arrows wern't hard enough.
Do these pads have arrows that are as hard as those in the arcade?
Does the pad itself flex at all?
I really want to find out so I can decide which pad to buy (one of these of a CF). _________________

I'm going to the arcade tomorrow, so I'll make a comparison after I get home. |
