Its going down! I went to an arcade with some friends to play the DDR Extreme machine. I was worked up, and decided to play Tsugaru Heavy, you know, a "what-the-hell" attempt. And I failed 10 seconds from the end. Is that good for a first try?

That depends.

How good are you at other songs?

Personnally, that song always gave me a lot of trouble. I couldn't get past that first section at all! I came back to it after about 3 months of playing and got a B on it no problem.

Just learn to stomp, gallop, turn, and 32nd step and you'll be good. E7.gif

Tsugaru was my second cata (if Drop Out counts... erm.gif I'm not sure. *is hit by the back on topic brick*), but it took me a couple tries to get it. Mysterio's right, it just depends on how good you are. Keep at it!

Drop Out depends. 8 feet was the highest ranking with Solo at that time, as was Paranoia and Trip Machine and such with 2nd mix. They changed it to 9 when Max2 came out because they felt it deserved a higher ranking. I don't think it's that hard.

Tsugaru first try? That's not too bad. I've been playing for 2 years and I AA'd it rather quickly but it depends on how long you've been playing to get the praise you recieve.

Tsugaru was a pain in the nuts till I figured out how to twist in the last chunk. Once that was accomplished, it was cheese. BTW, Tsugaru was one of my first catas.

Tsugaru is such a great song, and the steps rock! The hardest part for me is the very beginning of the long turning stream of 8th notes. Getting pretty close to the end first try is pretty good. Keep it up though thumb.gif .

Yes, Mysterio, I'm good at other songs. I'm one of the best players at my school and I'm pretty sure I'm the best in my area.

I know some of you all are pretty good, but, not to brag, I wasn't trying. Like I said, it was a "what-the-hell" attempt. I didn't expect to get to the end. Those gallops got me, though. No clue they were there. Got one good in all the gallops in the song on my first try.

BTW, where are the 1/32 arrows? Are those the dark purple-looking ones near the end?

Photo of 32nd steps.

See at the right at the top, it looks like a jump, but the down arrow is slightly lower than the up arrow. Those are 32nd steps. Solo option puts them in the same color.

Bleh, Tsugaru doesn't seem that hard to me... but good job anyway. Now go play Cartoon Heroes on Heavy.

biggrin.gif I wouldn't go to that next if you just passed tsugaru (or almost). If you have not tried Be lovin'....I say you should do that song...it is really fun and not too hard. you might get a C or B the first time....ending is tricky, but I think you might be good at it, once you passed that....CARTOON HEROS!!!!!

I think he was joking. but anyways, Cartoon Heroes is not hard, it just incorperates every technical type of step combo into one song. AS much as everyone I know thinks im crazy, i think tears is alot harder.

Try HVAM and Afronova. fast and furious...

Tsugaru is easy once you become familiar with the song and have decent stamina. Now Tsugaru Shuffle, on the other hand, is good old insane fun. Horray for spinning gallops!

Like anything else when it comes to DDR, "good" is relative. I bet there are people around who AAA'd Tsugaru within two games, so compared to them, you probably wouldn't be that good. However, in my area, you'd be considered one of the kings of the machine for getting that far on one try. The only opinions that really count will be the ones in your local area.

So, when they worship you, revel in the attention. :D
