Alot of DDR players here are into anime, RPGs, and alot of em listen to Japanese or Korean music, I like anime and RPGs but dont like the J and K pop stuff, American music owns(Metallica is BEST), however alot of people here are too into anime like they wanna move to Japan one day only cuz of anime I used to be like that till I read this: http://www.mangascreener.com/magazine/index.php?id=11
Btw my fav anime is Chobits and Love Hina(Naru...Chii... love.gif)

I know I'm a fan of both, but on a larger scale, I think it may be a large percentage, but it is definately not a given.

The fact that i like DDR and the fact that i like anime is simply a coincidence. I've always liked video games, but lately i'd been getting sick of all the fighting and shooting and racing games; DDR was a breath of fresh air.

And who said manga is more serious than comics? OK, the Japanese take the comics medium more seriously as a storytelling venue (ARE YOU LISTENING TEXAS?), but (1) you can't get much sillier than Urusei Yatsura, and (2) you can't get much more serious than Stray Bullets.

i was introduced to ddr in my school's anime club, so i think there is some sort of correlation between the two, but that's just me. i don't know many people who like ddr but not anime.

then again, i live in a small town.

Like how others said Its not strange to like 2 things at once ya no. I love the game DDR and Anime. My fave Anime either has to be Rockman.EXE (Megaman) Trigun or Samuri X (Rurouni Kenshin)

I thought it was common knowledge that just about EVERY DDR player is or was Japanese fanboy. American cartoons and games not doing it for ya? Lets turn up the wackiness level 700 notches, and here ya go! Bam, now you have insane buttocks japanese things. As someone who went throught the phase, its almost intolerable to watch people in the midst of it. Sure, they may LOVEEE DDR, but then totally mispronounce a japanese word. It isn't "sah-ku-rah", said with a crisp tone but "suh-kyu-ruh." Yeah, it is pretty annoying. And then, of course, the fan boys are garunteed to do Sobakasu at least once in their set of songs. And pronounce it "so-bax-su"....must kill. Yeah, I have been speaking japanese for about four years.

Simply put, nearly every DDR fan is also an anime fan, and if so, chances are they are an annoyingly devoted anime fan, who knows WAYYY too much about limited areas of the culture. As someone who has been to Japan a handful of times, it really isn't paradise. Sure, there are arcades all over the place, but people just are NOT outgoing at all over there. Period. And, again sorry to burst your bubbles, but there is no 24/7 anime channel. A very small percentage of the population even have cable.

And, I have liked anime in the past, occasionally, I will still watch kenshin, c0z the Kenshin-Shishio series one of the best concepts ever put into animation, if you ask me.

/bitterness for no reason

I don't like anime. Some of it is just unbearable to watch. I spent 5 minutes watching that FLCL show, and I was thinking WTF!? (Yes, the acronym did pass through my mind) What I saw was so messed up and made little or no sense. My mind couldn't comprehend it. I was scarred from that moment on. However, I do enjoy (dare i say it) furry cartoons/artwork. I know that some people just look at it strangely, unable to understand, which is just fine. Everyone has different interests.

And The Angry Beavers was the best cartoon on Nickelodeon EVER!

While I like anime I wouldn't say I'm a huge huge fan of it. Well, not anymore anyway. There will be times where I do watch it every now and then, but I think my liking towards DDR is more linked to the fact that I love arcades of all kinds, though my favorites include racers and shooters, preferrably from Sega. Problem is, they haven't really tossed out new arcades like they used to, and things were getting dry for me, and that's where DDR came into the picture, and my passion for arcades came back. Anime really had nothing to do with it.

I used to watch some thanks to my sister, but when it comes to my taste in favorite animation, nothing beats Beavis and Butt-head.

ddr has j-pop songs. anime has j-pop songs. usually anyone who enjoys the j-pop songs from ddr (like me riiight.gif ) tend to also like anime, but thats not always the case. i like the theme song from chobits, which leads me to watching the series. now its my favourite. but if i had to choose between ddr and anime, id pick ddr.

Yeah! Can you say Hamtaro?

laugh.gif I love both DDR and Anime. But, I don't really see how it's connected, besides both being Asian things. I also like Video Games and Futurama, Spongebob, ect. I like both USA stuff and Asian stuff, but I'm no fanboy.

I like animes. Favs: Furi Kuri, Ah My Goddess! and Your Under Arrest!

... and Hamtaro...

Go to somethingawful.com, then comedy goldmine and look for the Hamtaro story...you shall forever think differently of him. Forever. And ever.

But ya I love DDR only like anime because it is OK but after once, I get tired of it sometimes, =\.

I've been playing DDR for almost a year (and am still addicted to it), study the Japanese language (at school and in my free-time), have been to Japan once and am planning to go again this coming summer, and am still not into anime.

*Cue the chorus of WTF's from the crowd*

I just don't see how anyone could regard it as "Godlike", as someone mentioned before. Some of it's cute and all but... the concepts just boggle my mind.

Now...video games are a different matter. E4.gif

Well I don't think that's necesarily true, it is pretty common. I mean, I play DDR and my favorite show is Prince of tennis. I can't say I like DDR because of Anime, or I can't say I like Anime because DDR. I just like them. Even though neither of them have anything in common besides the fact that they are both from Japan.
