Im selling my blue beefman style dance pad, It used to work AWESOME, but it has some bugs that need to be fixed, just with the buttons.
When its fixed, its awesome, The highest combo i got with it was 632.
After about 30-60 minutes of fixing it up, it will work awesome.
As of now, i have a buyer, but if he doesnt want it anymore, i will sell it to anyone else that wants it.
AIM me for pics and other info.

Ok heres my question. Can someone elaborate or explain on where I put the ground wire for each arrow. I don't think I understand. Does the wire physically touch the pad, or just the ducttape. Does it matter what side its on? |

hey i am finally gonna build my own pad (no more soft pad missteps!!) but i am not using any of the designs in this thread....i am using this one: http://members.aol.com/customddr any opinions things i should do different than this guy did? i just want to make sure i have a good pad...
also im considering making the pad light up when u push on an arrow...how would i do this? i have thought of using LED lights that touch the metal under the arrow, it would light up when the arrow is pushed (when the circuit is completed)..do u think these would be enough to light the whole arrow? and another thing, does anyone know how much power is given through the PS2 controller port? info would be appreciated....thx a lot _________________

pffft. You should have more then one screw for contact on each side. 1=less sensitive. Especially when you hit more towards the corner.
Hey, i think i'll try putting up pics of my contact design tomorrow. This thread seems like it's really starting to die, so maybe this will stir up some interest/discussion/complaints/whatever. I think you guys might enjoy it, especially you Riptide guys--it's like an improved version of what he did. Pics forthcoming in new post. |

The metal contacts that are glued onto the plexi keep falling off? Have you tried Epoxy? That'd take care of that problem . _________________

Yea, that design has 1 MAJOR flaw....only 1 screw per side. I'd bet anything that those pads aren't vey sensitive at all, especially if you step on the corner of one of the arrow panels. You could always use more screws like riptide's design...but that's also creating the problems of
1) being more complex to build
2) having more points of failure _________________

well with one screw are u sure it will be that much harder for the arrow to register? i need sensitivity in the arrows im very light, around 110 lbs, so i need an arrow thats easy to push down _________________

When I put the metal contacts on the plexiglass with Spray adhesive, they got this dirty kind of consistancy on the side where there was no adhesive. I've tried scraping it off, but that's such a hassle .. Anyone know a good solution for getting spray adhesive off sheet metal? |

Ok... A while ago, perhaps 8 months+?, I built a homemade pad using DDRHomepad's design. My father, who was a carpenter for 10 years and is still involved in the industry, helped me build it so the measurements would be precise and everything would be advanced. The wiring on the controller was done perfectly and tested several times to make sure it was correct. The weather stripping and contacts were made just as described on the site. Since day one, it didn't work. I've tried everything, from people's advice, to tearing out most all of the weatherstripping (the only thing that's decently worked so far).
One of the problems was that the arrows constantly required tons of force to activate (fixed by removing all weatherstrippin inside the contact square and adding more to the corners). The wires aren't shorted at all, and everthing was built the way it's shown on the site. The prolem is that it just doesn't play very well-- you have to be all careful and play very abnormally...
If anyone can give me any help, please please do! I'm available on MSN messenger [email protected], and AIM/AOL at JAW214. _________________

hi everyone
this is the first time i have posted here and although i have skimed through the old post i havnt had time to read them all (internet conection running a bit slow atm). anyway im currently in the prosses of building a home pad (because they are way kool ) and i would just like to throw down a few ideas and ask a few questions. first of all my pad is gonna light up but im still in the prosses of deciding whether to use high or low voltage lights. any recomendations? either way im going to run them through relays so as not to short out anything. secondly im having trouble finding the braces described in ddrhomepad's designe. i havnt seen any of the other designs but im guessing they are similar. if anyone in australia knows where i can get some i would much apreciate it. i could make my own braces but it would greatly add to the cost. last of all for the moment, im probably going to make my own arrow designes but does anyone know where i can get the arcade style 1ns?
any help would be much apreciated.
cheers. _________________

I looked at your pictures of the pad on your site
http://www.geocities.com/coolhomieg/
and I noticed you didn't use screws going down through the brackets. The screws tighten the whole "arrow sandwich" so that it doesn't take a ton of force to activate. Try adding the screws, it should make a big difference. _________________

I had a similar problem with some epoxy getting on the sheet metal contacts. I was able to get it off by using a razor blade for thick stuff and some steel wool to get smaller amounts. I think steel wool would work fine for your problem, it also makes the sheet metal nice and shiny :-). |

BlueBeefman made a lot of posts about 3-4 months ago. Try looking back in the thread around then.
Or, you could do a search for all of his posts (but I think that requires finding one of his posts to begin with) _________________
