hey guys. i'm running debian gnu/linux 3.0 (woody). i compiled a custom kernel 2.4.21. anyway, i downloaded the oss binary of stepmania cvs. i untar'ed the file and ran ./stepmania. however, i got this error

./stepmania: error while loading shared libraries: libvorbisfile.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

so, then i search for vorbis in google, went to their site and downloaded the libraries, utilities, etc...the necessities bascially. i ran ./stepmania again and received the same error. so, i ran locate libvorbisfile|more. and there it was: /usr/lib/local/libvorbisfile.so.3

how can i fix this? my box dual-boots windows and debian, so i can sm on my windows partition, but hey, linux runs faster hehe.

any suggestions?

thanx. l8rz

try this...:

download the source version
open the readme/install file
get everything that they said is required in there
compile the source (grab a cup of coffee... or three... it'll take a long time)
try to open it then

although i think the linux version is VERY laggy disgust.gif

compile from sources...oh my gods. i was on the ddrmaniax channel and they said that it would take a few DAYS. and now i hear it's a bit laggy...

hmm, well, has anyone been able to run stepmania under linux? if so, how's the performance? and what settings did you put and what are the specs of your puter?
