Will a PS2 Codebreaker work instead of a Gameshark? _________________

Did you install the chip on your own? If you had somebody else install it from the internet, you can ask them if they allow chip exchanges. You should exchange it for a messiah2.

Im thinking about modding my PS2, I decided that it'd be easier to have PSX Tech to do the installation but I'm clueless on what chip to get. I heard the Magic 3.1 chip is good since of some of the posts I read, people said they got one and it works great. I also saw the DMS3 chip but it is much more expensive? Is there any real differences between the two? (Maybe this has been posted but I load each forum page mega slow sadly.) |

Ok, I'm having trouble telling what version my ps2 is. I ordered a Magic 3.1 chip because it's compatible with all ps2s... but I need the correct diagram to tell which it is. I *think* it's a V4 because it's serial starts with U0 and it has the diffrent screw arrangement in the expansion bay. I can't tell the diffrence between the gap and no gap systems... nor do I know how to figure this out. Any help is much appreciated. _________________

Get the messiah 2 from PSX-Tech. Everybody says it is way better than the magic 3.1.

If you are getting a fliptop, go to www.ps2fliptop.com. They are the absolute best service I have had, and I paid them via money order. As soon as they got the money, they told me they were shipping it the next day (wednesday) and it came on thursday. Fast shipping and great service, no problems at all with my fliptop either.

i realy think the PS2 case cover whatever has a lot of advantages over getting a modded system. but i also want to play imports of PSX games... and if the ps2 cover is 30$$ and a new PS2 is 170$$ thats like 200$$ whats the price of a new system pre modded with a v7 magic 3.1? _________________

Ok I see how flip ops have an advantage over mod chips, but what about fliptop vs. slide card? I want to get either a fliptop or slide card, but can't choose. Has anyone ever damaged their PS2 with a slide card? I hear people saying it could, but has it ever happened? Because I don't wanna open up my PS2 to install a flip top and have something go wrong. And do fliptops/slide cards really play imports (the next DDR game) even though they are easy to install? |

Get a fliptop, the slide card will wear out your disc trays motor thing. And yeah, they do play imports and burns. _________________

How much of the Japanese DDR games are in English? I'm thinking about getting a fliptop cover and the next DDR, but do you think it's gonna be easy to understand? Is the main menu and song selection in Japanese?
*EDIT* Also can I save a Japanese game to a US memory card? |

As much of the Japanese DDR games are in english as the arcade. So, no, you won't have any problems. The only things that can be problematic is if you've never made edit data before, and all the instructions are in Japanese -_- (same idea with 4th mix home's Challenge mode).
Memory cards are universal, so you can indeed save a japanese game to a US card. |

I just ordered a fliptop mod from www.ps2fliptop.com, and I did next day shipping, so it should be here tommorrow. Just one question: Does anyone know if it will play games burned on DVD-RW's? |
