for frickin real tsuki. i mean, there's PLENTY of talent in the mid-atlantic, there's NO reason someone from oklahoma (of all places) should have won a MD tournament. sorry to say it, but that's the friggin truth.
i don't think i can make it to the dc tourney either. i have a feeling one of the waldorf players might nab this one (either harold, ben, etc)..everyone else is too young unfortunately -_-;
and have a little more patience with people dude. sure, there are some idiotic questions being asked on the previous page, big deal. there were also some very concerning questions being asked (i.e. location and info on baltimore and dc) that were not answered until WAY late. its understandable that people are upset...but no big deal...moving on.. _________________

Yeah, that is sad. Praster did say Owings Mills in his reply, and I knew there was one mall in Owings Mills. There was almost no excuse to not find it; the mall was easily off I-795 (Exit 4); hell, I was able to take public transporation from the Franconia-Springfield Metro ALL THE WAY UP TO THE MALL! (Blue Line to L'Enfant Plaza, then the Green Line to Greenbelt, then the B-30 to BWI, then the light rail up to Downtown Baltimore, and then the subway up to Owings Mills.) The last stop of the Baltimore Metro puts you in a very easy walk to the mall.
Quote: | This cat from Tulsa Ok won it. |
You mean to say that I lost to some kid who wasn't even from the general Baltimore area? (I mean, I came up from Virginia Beach for this, but still someone who just happened to be there who lives in OKLAHOMA won it?)
I won't even go into the whole thing about the scoring issue; I should have won definitively on Tech scoring (perfects/greats) but I made one misstep and didn't full-combo the song. The only reason he won was because he full-comboed the song. (They go by machine scoring, which means on a 4th Mix, the best strategy is to full-combo the song to maximize your score.) He won it fair and square according to their rules.
Quote: | The tournament for d.c. will be in alexandria virginia at the only mall there this monday. |
It was indeed mentioned earlier in the thread, for those that weren't paying attention -- it is Landmark Mall, which is just off Exit 3 on I-395.
It's kinda too bad they didn't go for more established malls where most of us go; if it were Eastpoint, Springfield, or some other mall with a decent DDR community there, the turnout might have been a little better.
Quote: | Baltimore happened, you just missed 2 of my replys in a row next to each other in huge print just a little above these replys that told you there was something at owings or whatever mills. |
It's sad.... these people can't read a map or even look at earlier stuff in the thread.... well, good luck with Alexandria on Monday.... it should be fun. _________________

The nasty attitudes, name calling and lack of timely and complete information is why this event has been all but ignored by the local (Baltimore/DC) DDR community. No one from EP, Springfield or CP has shown any interest in attending as far as I know and if they have by the time we get accurate info (nothing on the official web sites about Baltimore or DC locations) it is often too late to attend. Hopefully someone from Waldorf can attend the event in Va(not exactly DC). And Brakus, I'm glad your budget allowed you to make the arrnagements you did through public transportation-not everyone is in that position and if the event organizers want us to use roadmaps thats fine but why not just publicize the correct and complete event information. MD has an extremely talented DDR community and its a shame we havent been able to make a better showing at these events.

Enough all of you.
You cannot expect everyone to know where everything is. Help might be required and putting things in BOLD RED TEXT as such does not and only creates more problems.
As for what happened there, I know nothing about it. I am sure everything wasn't as dedicated to DDR as it should have been, like most of us are used to however it's just another tournament. Leave it be. There will always be good ones and bad ones. _________________

first off your stupid for even attempting to insult me nice try. |
You're such a fricking baby, you know that?
Quote: | when you said owings mall or something to me i am clueless as to what mall that is mainly cuz I HAVE NEVER EVEN HERD OF IT. |
Good Lord. You're probably in your fourth year as a freshman at your local high school because you never do your homework and don't pass your tests.
Couldn't you use that high-speed internet connection that your parents pay $40 a month for something that isn't for making lame replies and downloading pr0n? There's a thing on the Internet called Google, and it can help you find anything. Are you too stupid to even look up the damn place by yourself?
Quote: | and as for the rest of its just a stupid copetition. who really really gives a crap anyways |
Because the winner gets a FREE -- that's right, FREE -- trip to Las Vegas, which is why I actually gave a fricking crap and went to this thing in the first place. I figured that would have been enough incentive for the of-age DDR players to at least try for it.
Some people need to desperately apply for a loan so that they can buy a clue. Jeez. _________________

Therefore, it is the everyone''s responsibility to find out where the thing is if the event organizers have decided to wait until the last minute to announce the locations. I had to almost beat the location out of Praster so I could find out where it is. He finally said that it would be in Owings Mills. I know there's one mall in Owings Mills, that location had to be the one. I'm so glad it was.
I can't expect to hold everybody's hands trying to tell them exactly where the thing is. If they're too lazy to read a map, use Google, or ask, then it's their problem, not mine.
I'm also sick of people asking the same things over and over again after the answer has ALREADY been posted. That's just as bad. _________________

Correct, and if you were a bit more helpful this conversation would not be going on. If you knew the information what is the big problem with answering a question, rather than raping the bbCode?
On second thought... Don't answer that.

Well, that's America for you. A nation of slackers expected to be waited upon by the smart people.
No wonder Praster was so exasperated when he got on here telling how Baltimore went. He gives enough information to get a location fixed down, and yet people still were asking where it is. I feel sorry for him having to deal with the rest of you people.
All right. That's all I'm going to say. Best of luck for those going to Landmark tomorrow (in Alexandria, Exit 3 off I-395 in Virginia. You can't miss it.) _________________

Okay,
I've sat back and I've looked and listend and heard all of the crying and complaining and everything and All I have to say is GROW UP.
the fact that Owings Mills mall was unknown to you is a valid statement. However it's not a valid excuse. I'm very sure that there is some sort of way that you could have found some resources that could have lead you to at least the location of Owings Mills Mall.
Second--A guy from Oklahoma won a tournament in baltimore. BIG DEAL--it happens GET OVER IT. Harford mall has had tournaments where baltimore won. Baltimore had tournaments in which Waldorf won, Just because you host a tournament in one city doesn't mean that someone from that home city is gonna win. If it did all of our pro sports would be at a .500 average every year.
Third--I'm agreeing with DDRMom on this one. The name calling and Big Bold Red Letters are just absolutely uncalled for. Its very childish, it's very immature, and insulting to your own selves. There is no point whatsoever to stoop yourselves to a lower level like that.
Lastly--and maybe I am making a personal blow on this one, but I really don't care. But BRAKUS, you're supposed to be more mature than that, but based on what i've seen and heard out of you lately, it's just unreal. GROW UP. Don't air laundry in the room unless you want yours aired too.
And GET YOUR OWN POSE. DON'T STEAL G.E.R.'S
I hope that everyone that went through this experience with this event can move on to bigger, better, more positive, and more productive things (DDR and NON-DDR related) But to dwell on this is just very childish.

First off, get off the high horse. Being pretentious like that doesn't score points around here. Oh wait, yes it does. Just not the kind most people want.
"The rest of you people." That's an interesting turn of phrase. So with what you've said, you've placed yourself above all the people who had issues with getting there or had issues while they were there. Get off the soapbox. Someone needs it for something useful.
Honestly, there's been a true dearth of information with most of the sites according to the main page. The only reason I got a reliable time on the one here in NJ was not because I checked here or at ABC Family, but I checked Z100, who was helping to sponsor it. Baltimore didn't have a location. New Jersey didn't have a set date. *shrugs* They honestly needed to have someone taking a little more care of the website.
Brakus, all you're doing is creating more and more aggravation and problems here by sounding like Mr. High-and-Mighty. Stop it. Now.
BTW, Zeus, honestly, the way things were, you, Harold, and Tim could've been in the tournament and all lost first round. Hey, that's what happened with Adam and Chef. The reason for Chef? His pad dropped an arrow. So he had 98% PA but since it's basically COMBO attack, he lost. The people you'd expect to win can get screwed by one arrow in one split-second. :-\ Them's the breaks. _________________

this thread has retartation all over it
um, anyway..here's my final piece..
brakus, stop acting all high and mighty. you're coming across as "wow, everyone here is an idiot except for me," and its a bit rude/disrespectful. i understand that you found out how to get there all by yourself, but no one is really concerned with that. what i think we're concerned with is the fact that the information was given so horribly late, and it (the info for baltimore and dc) wasn't even listed on the official webpage. what's done is done, and hopefully it won't have to happen again.
after i saw the scoring system, i realized that i could be screwed out by something as simple as a pad not working correctly. that's a pile, and its something that the techs for dance fever NEVER should have let happen. i feel bad that people like chef and adam got screwed out by this, because i know how good they are (especially chef with his light/standard PA).
anyway, i've got something for anyone that wants it. DIRECTIONS to the mall in ALEXANDRIA, VA:
Landmark Mall
5801 Duke St
Alexandria, VA 22304
703-941-2582
MAP

I am the person who won the tournament in Baltimore.
There is plenty of talent in the Mid-Atlantic, granted, but that was a pretty harsh comment about Oklahoma. I have seen several players in Oklahoma that would completely waste everyone I have seen while living out here on the east, myself definitely not included.
The reason I won? Beats the crap out of me. I just showed up to have fun, so it isn't my fault you guys can't even cough up a player to beat me! I saw the Owings Mills mall posted on Dance Fever, briefly, ~Thurs. night around Midnight. And again when Praster posted it. And I got out my map and found it.
And it's not like I drove here in my truck with my girlfriend/sister and beat you guys out, like the big okie stud I am. I am working in Baltimore this summer, and, hot-dogs, there was a DDR tournament! The only advantage I probably had over several of the people was that I have been around for a couple of years, and I went to tournaments on 30fps machines before.
I will be honest, and I saw several guys around that were very decent, but many of them were under 18. Also, bad luck just caught a couple of people (like Jeremy, above). Hey, it happens to us all.
Anyway, I will be around again in a year or so, so feel free to come kick my butt in tournaments at said time. Or come out to Oklahoma, where I will be busy getting my butt kicked by Micharu, amongst several others (like my girlfriend). |

my initial thought was that it might be micharu but anyway, when i heard someone from OK won, i figured someone just drove out to it and beat everyone out, and thats what i was upset about. but i was wrong about that...but everything aside, you should meet up with some of the maryland and virginia players while you're still in MD =D _________________

Wow.....childish....
Look....I've lost times how many times it's been said....
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DDR IN THE END!!!! It's just a promotional thing for the TV show... ABC Family could probably care less about this tour (minus the money they're shelling out for it...)
Now let's all look at this from an outside point of view.... I know nothing about Maryland, Virginia, DC......nothing about the East Coast DDR scene.... However, Praster put where the place was, and even flat out said that the spot they picked was a last second decision type thing.
Someone complains that it's not a spot that the locals care about..... Look at some of the rest of the places.....AFAIK, NONE of them have been at a mall that has an arcade that has DDR.... I don't know why that is, but that's been the trend. Heaven forbid you be forced to go to a mall different from the one you're a mallrat at.... Yes....you may not know where a particular mall is.....but like someone said....that's what atlus's and google is for....
Google: The Answer To Life's Deepest Questions.
Anyhow....I think everyone needs to take a chill pill and realize......you're fighting over a video game..... (granted, it's a trip to Vegas on the line....and I already got my trip....but still)
Praster: Ain't you glad this is almost over dude? 2 1/2 weeks, we'll be at Circus Circus playin Pop'n 8, and all will be well. =) (unless you got a lot of stuff for the show to do.....but I think Andrew and I will be at CC a lot) |
