The Red Octane pad looks good and claims to be the closest to the arcade that you can buy without actually buying an arcade setup. My question is does the pad live up to its description? Can anyone back this up for me before I shell out the near $250 to get the pad? One question I would like answered is are the buttons sunk in the same depth as they are on the arcade pads?

It's still a pre-order. It might just be a slight cheaper version of the CF only with lights.

Don't buy from RedOctane. They're evil. My local con ran a DDR tournament last year, and they sponsered us. We were supposed to be getting 2x Ignition 2.0 pads but instead we got... poopy... flat pads that didn't even work. I'm not the only person this has happened to. Actually, I've never found anyone who had a good experience with running a tourney and RedOctane. I have talked to half a dozen who share my negative experiences. _________________

Its funny what a year can do to a company. Last year they were known as the best DDR company in the business and was recommended by everyone. Now theyre pretty much crap. _________________

I never had any problems with them, their customer service has always been good to me. But I have a CF now so I haven't dealt with them for a while.
But their pad isn't out yet, so you should wait for the reviews to come it. But if you have the money, get a CF - their customer service is second to none, and you'll be happy.
Also, there is an interesting thread going on at CF's website about the similarities between their pad and this new one from RO. It looks to me that RO ripped off their design, and added light to it. |

I won't be able to buy it until it comes out anyway since I don't have enough money saved up yet. I have a question about the CF pad. Are the arrows on it sunk in as much as the arcade? I would really like to find out as much about both pads as possible before spending a few hundred dollars _________________

The platform itself is perfectly flat, with the center panel raised slightly. The arrows are not sunken.
If you have more questions about CF's, I recommend looking around on the CF forums (www.cobaltflux.com/forum). _________________

To me it sounds just like a standered MYMYBOX SOLO pad.? just a little taller? thats going by the discription on the page? can anyone conferm what type of sensor it uses? they said Foam but is there any DDR metal pads that use the arcade style sensors? _________________

This is the same stage that was at thier booth in Fanime 2003. I was a nice stage. It was a bit taller than what they have listed on there site. Buttons were pretty quiet and responsive. But yes the top of the pad itself resembles your standard metal pad. Overall it was pretty nice. _________________

well it's the same price as the thrid party metal dance pad. I'd say go with this one. Don't buy a metal dance pad from BuyNshop.com, worst place ever. I bought one and it lasted a week. Other than that I would recommend just saving your money and spend it at the arcade. |

Actually about BuyNshop I found that the quality of their pad is all luck. I think they just randomly send one in their inventory and send it because I got a awesome mymybox 8-button blueshark metal pad(actually says mymybox on it too), my one friend got a decent cypher games metal pad, and my other friend got a crappy generic metal pad. So if you feel like taken a chance then I would say go for cypher games but if you aren't then I would suggest to look somewhere else.[/rant] _________________

On a nice little side note, "saving money by going to the arcade" is an oxymoron. The reason I want to get an arcade-true metal pad is because I've been wasting too much money at the arcade. Not only that, the closest arcade with DDR in it is a half-hour drive away. _________________
