Since I started when DDR USA was in the arcades I never saw the use of using a beginner mode. That mode will create bad habits. It's would be better to start on light or standard mode to get into a good habit. 4 footer or better. That's how I started, and within a few weeks I was doing 7 to 9 footers. I think it was in my first three months when I did my first cata, Paranoia Rebirth. The current light mode will help you to step with good habits. Learning the right step patterns and how to shift your weight correctly.
side note: when I say that I did my first cata in three months, that means that I passed it with an A or better on my last song. I was passing it with a C or better sometime in my second month of playing. |

I played Soft mode a couple times on 3rd Mix. I soon moved on to Normal and never looked back. _________________

DDR Max for PS2 light mode 4Evaa~
Beginner mode would be OK if they didn't have the character in the background. Some people may say that its better to start on light (and I wouldn't disagree with that totally), but I've seen some VERY bad players (not their fault, but still, no natural ability at al at the game) and they need an even lighter mode to start off with. Plus the anti-fail 1st round system encourages a game that costs 4 quarters to play -_-

The first mix I played on was DDRUSA. I played beginner mode for one round. After that, I only played it if a song I chose was too hard in "Standard".
"Hmm, Paranoia Rebirth...sounds like a good one.... holy crap! A 6-foot on Standard!?" *forced to choose beginner because of it* _________________

I started out on a 1st mix with Have you ever been mellow, but the first song I ever passed was Boom Boom Dollar. No Begginer modes in those versions. _________________

No, I think Beginner mode is totally useless(And I started on Max2). I was able to do 3 footers by my second day playing. _________________

My first game at the arcade I was passing EotC light (which is a pretty hard 4-footer) all because a week or two before I went to my cousin's house and he had borrowed Konamix from one of his friends but no pads. Still, at basic level, you don't have to think which foot to use so I was able to use all of the reading skills I had picked up. My cousin would play along with me and keep me alive while I tried to follow the stream of notes.
Anyway, the only time I remember playing beginner was when I was doing We Will Rock You beginner stealth |

when i first played ddr back in 2000 with 3rd mix I played basic. beginner was to hard for me because it was tooooo slow. I prefer faster beat songs and standard/heavy mode. I guess i have fast reflexes. _________________
